As a Senior Software Engineer on the Taco Bell Experience Team, you will play a hands-on role in building modern, scalable web and mobile applications that power the customer journey. Working closely with Product, UX, Platform Engineering, and Analytics teams, you will design and deliver fast, intuitive experiences across discovery, ordering, and checkout. You will balance performance, accessibility, maintainability, and engineering excellence while enabling rapid delivery to market.
Design and build features for our global e-commerce platform, supporting multiple brands
Build responsive, accessible, high-performance interfaces with React (and React Native where needed), TypeScript, and Vite, composing from our design system
Work in a large TypeScript monorepo of shared packages and brand apps — managing package boundaries, dependency direction, and versioned releases of the shared SDK
Partner with Product, Design, and back-end teams on end-to-end journeys, including market-specific work that keeps the shared core intact
Instrument analytics and experiments to diagnose production issues and guide performance improvements
Own features end-to-end: design, implementation, tests, code review, and deployment through CI/CD
Suggest improvements to component architecture and testing practices, helping raise the team's overall standard of quality
Required skills:
Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
6+ years in software, 3+ years hands-on with React, with a track record on large-scale, customer-facing web apps (e-commerce a plus)
Strong TypeScript/React fundamentals: hooks, composition, reusable component libraries, responsive HTML/CSS, accessibility, performance optimization
Experience structuring shared code across teams: package boundaries, dependency direction, type-safe APIs across packages
State management experience (Redux or similar)
Test-first habit with Jest and React Testing Library
Daily use of AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor) without sacrificing code review rigor
Track record of mentoring engineers and driving technical decisions across teams
Strong written and verbal English communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-have skills:
Monorepo tooling (pnpm workspaces, Turborepo, Changesets)
E2E testing (Playwright or Cypress)
Design systems / design tokens in Storybook
Redux with side-effect middleware (redux-saga)
GraphQL schema-driven codegen
Headless CMS (Contentful)
AWS + observability (Datadog, RUM)
React Native / Expo experience
Experimentation/engagement platforms (Optimizely, Braze, mParticle)
