The primary purpose of this position is the daily maintenance and upkeep of all videoboard, scoreboard, advertisement and timing equipment for all athletic venues. The Technology Specialist will work with Broadcasting, Fan Experience, Facility Maintenance & Event Management teams to coordinate all technical aspects of the videoboard, scoreboard, LED and timing equipment. It is also responsible for game day operation and tech support for all athletic venues, ensure coverage is available for each event. The Technology Specialist will work with Daktronics and all third-party vendors to train & keep technical skills proficient.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a scoreboard technician.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Vast knowledge, skill and ability to troubleshoot and repair videoboard, scoreboard, LED and timing equipment related to all college sports game day operations.

    • Ability to run the proper power tools, machinery and equipment to get the job done.

    • Strong knowledge of and skilled in many computer operation systems and the ability to work on them all.

    • Ability to do physical work on the equipment.

    • Ability to train, work with third party to learn all equipment technology needed to operate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Vocational or technical training. Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    • Knowledgeable about Daktronics scoreboards.
    • Skilled in communication and ability to solve problems and issues.

  • Coordinate daily maintenance and upkeep of all videoboard, scoreboard, LED and timing equipment:

    • Communicate maintenance with Broadcasting, Fan Experience, Facility Maintenance & Event Management team.

    • Work with various Director of Team operations to ensure all equipment is functional.

    • Work alongside broadcasting team to ensure all technical equipment (timing, clocks, radar guns & statistical programs) work within the ESPN/SEC Network needs.

  • Maintain vast knowledge of videoboard, scoreboard, LED and timing equipment:

    • Troubleshoot equipment issues and keeping all product software up-to-date.

    • Resolve any issues that may arise, as well as working with Daktronics to troubleshoot & provide programming upgrades that are necessary.

    • Maintain training needed to troubleshoot & identify issues.

  • Provide gameday support for all videoboard, scoreboard, LED and timing equipment operation and tech equipment:

    • Work with Daktronics to ensure coverage is provided either by Technology Specialist, part-time staff or student help.

    • Ensure pregame and event data input to support current game and analytics is available.

    • Communicate when all checks have been completed and pre-game checks are complete.

  • Provide solutions to problems that may arise, collaborate with staff to find innovative solutions to challenges. Present solutions & new ideas to external and event management team.

  • Other duties as assigned.
