The Craft Specialist III position performs a variety of specialized maintenance and repairs of housing facilities including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and laundry equipment. It provides technical guidance and direction to designated/assigned personnel.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 6 years’ experience in the fields of preventative maintenance and construction.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    • Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in modern construction principles and techniques

    • Knowledge of successful preventative maintenance programs and services, and the ability to execute same

    • Ability to work within tight deadlines and schedules

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work with diverse customer and employee basis

    • Ability to wear protective gear

    • Strong customer service skills

    • Ability to use specialized tools and equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of vocational or technical training in a maintenance related field
  • Experience: 4 years of experience in the fields of preventative maintenance and construction.

The Craft Specialist III must perform specialized and skilled craft work in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry, and laundry equipment repair. They will operate any and all equipment necessary to carry out required maintenance functions. They will maintain records of time and materials used for billing/budget purposes. The Craft Specialist III will coordinate work to be performed in construction and renovations of facilities and equipment. They will provide technical guidance and direction to designated personnel as well as inspect completed work and direct rework or modifications. They will conduct inspections of buildings and equipment rooms for operational malfunctions and check motor bearings for excessive vibrations, signs of wear, and need for adjustment.
