The Assistant Director of Student Success reports to the Direct of Student Success. This position manages the day-to-day operations of student success initiatives, including staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation for retention activities like the Engineering Study Center. This position will also develop targeted retention activities for specific Engineering student populations like transfer students. This position will focus on strengthening ongoing partnerships with departments to enhance student success activities focused on the Engineering Study Center and student retention.

Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in education, higher education administration, psychology, counselor, social work, STEM
- Experience:
- A minimum of five years of higher education or related experience in other fields (e.g. K-12, nonprofit) required.
- Graduate degree work may count towards experience.
- Professional experience in admissions, advising, student success, or student services at a regionally accredited college or university.
- Demonstrated positive experience working with diverse populations.

Oversee the Engineering Study Center, including supervision of the Peer Leadership and Learning Coordinator, to hire, recruit, and retain student tutors. Responsible for developing the orientation and ongoing training for peer tutors with the assistance of the Peer Learning and Leadership Coordinator. This position will also have programmatic touch points (IE one on ones, team meetings) on a regular basis in order to foster relationships with all peer tutors to create a safe learning and working environment. Responsible for identifying courses, liaising with faculty who teach high DFW courses and their departments, designing and implementing tutoring programs tailored for specific student needs including group sessions, one-on-one support, and specialized workshops. Reports updates to the Director of Student Success. Works with academic advisors and academic units to increase student improvement metrics (e.g. DFW rates; student grades, probationary status, graduation rates). Provides regular updates and Annual Report with data generated by Peer Learning and Leadership Coordinator.
Design, develop, and implement targeted retention programming for specific student populations (e.g. transfer students, first generation, at-risk students). Collaborate with college units to determine areas to provide targeted support through data collection and analysis; gathering and discussing feedback from students regarding classes, content, and instructors; uses data to create targeted programmatic support (e.g. cohorts, mental health programs) aimed at improving academic skills, career readiness, and wellbeing.
Coach, mentor, and conduct performance reviews for Peer Learning and Leadership Coordinator (nonexempt direct report) and as well as student workers. Work with Peer Learning and Leadership Coordinator to develop and maintain training and performance metrics for student workers. Coaches Peer Learning and Leadership Coordinator on managerial skills, including encouraging professional development for non-exempt staff and student workers.
Supports the overall function of the Office of Student Success, including: attends recruitment and other all-college events as representative of Engineering Study Center and Office of Student Success; serves on college and university committees as representative of Office of Student Success; assist with on-boarding of new staff.
Maintains budget for the Engineering Study Center. Responsible for strategic plan and budget creation for TCE Tutoring Center, with specific focus on scalability planning for 3-5-10 years as tutoring center grows. Reports plans to Director of Student Success.
