This position provides comprehensive cleaning services to the headquarters building, all 4 lodging accommodations, the historic Ames Manor House, and to a lessor extent, other outlying buildings. Facilities include a large public meeting space with commercial kitchen and dormitory style bunk house. Specific cleaning requirements are listed below. It is anticipated that the person in this position will work atypical, flexible hours in response to cleaning needs (e.g., at least some before- or after-business hour responsibilities).
The position will work closely with center staff, helping to identify problems such as leaks and building damages in need of repair. Maintenance and other staff will provide direction on cleaning needs that are not being met. The position will order cleaning supplies and also coordinate with outside vendors for any special cleaning requirements, which may include window washing or waxing of floors.
This position provides comprehensive cleaning services to the Ames AgResearch and Education Center.
Required Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED
Experience: Two years of experience providing cleaning services
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Extensive knowledge about cleaning practices used in public or commercial facilities.
Ability to prioritize assignments based on critical needs. Ability to work with others, particularly in scheduling cleaning services to cause minimal disruption
Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Three of more years of experience providing cleaning services, especially on public or business facilities
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge on the cleaning, stripping and waxing of floors.

Ames REC located in Grand Junction, TN is part of the Tennessee Agricultural Experiment Stations System. Ames is privately owned by the Hobart Ames Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, charitable foundation and co-managed by the Trustees of the Foundation and the AgResearch Division of the Institute of Agriculture.
Hobart Ames Foundation: The Trustees of the Hobart Ames Foundation own and operate the Ames REC according to the Will of the late Julia Colony Ames. The Trustees have complete oversight as to the property, finances, equipment and infrastructure located on the 13,000 acres. The Trustees have final decision-making authority regarding management of the property. The Ames REC does abide by the policies and procedures set forth by The University of Tennessee for all of the Research & Education Centers and the Foundation Trustees do consult with the Dean of AgResearch when there is possible conflict.
Mission Statement for Ames REC: To conduct agricultural research and educational activities on all aspects of row-crop & livestock commodities as well as forestry/wildlife programs. For conducting the National Championship for field trialing bird dogs in February of each year on ~5,000 acres of Ames field trial courses, and to preserve the cultural resources found on Ames and educate the public on their significance.
AGRESEARCH AND EDUCATION CENTER INFORMATION
One of ten outdoor research and teaching laboratories in the University of Tennessee AgResearch System, the Ames REC serves the agricultural community of west Tennessee. The center is located near Grand Junction, TN, 365 miles west of the main campus in Knoxville. Created in 1950 as a Field Station via the Will of the late Julia Colony Ames and originally known as Ames Plantation, the facility’s name was changed to the Ames AgResearch and Education Center to more accurately reflect the center’s mission to meet agricultural research and information needs of West Tennessee. The center includes some 13,000 acres to meet the scientists’ needs. Research performed at the center strives to help landowners produce better and more abundant row-crops, while another research focus is on forestry/wildlife management and livestock management practices. The Center has the 3rd oldest Angus beef cattle herd in the nation and is home to the National Championship for field trialing bird dogs, which is held the 2nd Monday of February each year.
The Ames REC hosts numerous industry and public tours, as well as, specialty field days that occur at different times of the year. The Center also hosts In-service training for AgResearch and Extension personnel in addition to other technology transfer events.

Comprehensive high-quality cleaning services to include the following:
Dusting, mopping, sweeping, damp wiping, and polishing as needed; with a very high standard, particularly in common-use spaces such as bathrooms, meeting spaces and break rooms, hallways to provide clean, polished surfaces
Service , clean, and restock restrooms
Clean windows, glass partitions or mirrors
Dust/polish furniture, fixtures and walls
Emptying trash and replacing liners
Vacuuming of rugs and carpeted areas; spot or steam cleaning as needed
Periodic waxing and buffing of designated floors
Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
Periodic window washing of headquarters building and other high-profile windows
Cleaning of air vents or other areas prone to collect dust
Maintain security of premises by making sure doors and other entry points are locked after business hours
Request supplies or equipment needed for cleaning duties
Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, trash, recycled items, tables, chairs, ladders, to prepare facilities for special events, such as banquets, classes or meetings
Other cleaning assignments as assigned or approved by the Director
Ensure adequate inventory of cleaning supplies on hand
Makes suggestions on needs and best practices for maintaining a healthy, clean working environment
