Position Overview
The University of Tennessee Southern enthusiastically invites applications for the position of Instructor of Kinesiology in the Grissom School of Education. The position is a full-time, 9-month faculty position, beginning August 2026. We seek candidates with expertise in teaching undergraduate Kinesiology courses and a commitment to excellence in undergraduate education, student mentorship, and meaningful service to the institution and community.

Required Qualifications:
This is an on-campus position
Master’s degree in Kinesiology or related field.
Ability to engage students through active learning and evidence-based pedagogy.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree in qualifying discipline (Kinesiology or other related discipline)
Experience in Higher Education
Experience teaching Physical Education in a K-12 setting.
Required Licensure or Certifications:
Certification(s) from recognized professional organizations (e.g., ACSM, NSCA).

The successful candidate will:
Teach undergraduate courses in Kinesiology (e.g. Advanced Strength and Conditioning, Administration of Tests & Measurements in PE, Assessment and Care of Athletic Injuries, Philosophy & Techniques of Coaching, Competition: The Pursuit of Excellence, Cardiovascular Exercise Physiology, Activity Skills: Individual and Team Sports)
- Develop and revise course materials to reflect current research and best practices.
- Participate in departmental service, including curriculum development, assessment, and student recruitment.
- Engage in professional development to maintain expertise in the field.
