The Office of Enrollment Management Research and Analytics at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) invites applications and nominations for our Data Analyst position. The minimum starting salary for this position is $71,792. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Ability to present complex findings and recommendations in a clear concise manner verbally and in writing
• Able to provide good judgment, decision-making, and problem solving
• Ability to create clear, accurate representations of data
• Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to learn new software and continually acquire new competencies
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without need now or in the future for sponsorship for employment-based visa status.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
• Two or more years of progressively responsible experience in analytics, reporting, or statistical work
• Experience working in a higher education setting
• Demonstrated proficiency with SQL or a related programming language
• Experience using software such as Tableau Prep and Tableau Desktop to transform, clean, analyze, and manage data; create tables, graphs, dashboards, and presentations
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel
• Demonstrated successful management of multiple short-term and long-term projects, independent completion of projects with accuracy, thoroughness and creativity, and timely meeting of deadlines under pressure
• Experience with complex data sets including manipulating, merging, restructuring and analyzing large data sets
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Working knowledge of Tableau software
• Working knowledge of Banner or another integrated student information system
• Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research, analysis, and statistical methods
• Knowledge of Banner and underlying tables, fields, and codes

The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Center for Financial Wellness, University Registrar, Pre-college Research Excellence Programs, EM Research & Analytics, EM Communications, and EM Operations. This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.
Supports the Enrollment Management division and broader University by providing timely, accurate, and relevant insights to decision makers. Performs complex, highly visible and potentially sensitive research and analysis. Compiles, cleans, analyzes, interprets, and maintains data for use in campus-wide decision-making. Creates and maintains dashboards that contain a variety of data visualizations and key performance indicators (KPls) designed to meet the needs of the end user and inform decisions at the highest levels of the university. Responsible for linking data from multiple internal sources as well as importing and linking data from external sources. Integrates concepts and data from various sources such as institutional database, EAB, the College Board, ACT, National Student Clearinghouse, IPEDS (Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System), and other national data banks to create analyses that serve the university's enrollment management needs. Performs the evaluation and testing of data and reports received from other offices, establishes automatic data verification, resolves data discrepancies, creates queries, and develops ad hoc reports.
