The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Development Coordinator for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Planned, Regional and Corporate Giving, the Development Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative, operational and data-management support to the Regional Fundraising Team within Advancement.

This role will ensure accurate donor and prospect information, support donor engagement and stewardship activity, coordinates workflow for regional fundraisers, and contributes to efficient fundraising operations.

Required Education and Experience

The candidate who fills the Development Coordinator position is required to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 1+ years of experience in development, nonprofit administration, advancement services, or related support roles

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Microsoft 365

  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills

  • High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy

A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record is required due to travel responsibilities of the position. UTFI reserves the right to consider all appropriate circumstances. In general, any significant driving offense less than 12 months old will eliminate the application from consideration for the position.

Preferred Education and Experience

In addition to meeting the required qualifications, the preferred candidate will have:

  • Experience in higher education advancement or donor relations

  • Experience using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred)

  • Familiarity with fundraising operations, stewardship processes, and prospect research tools

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Donor and Team Support: Coordinate donor engagement activities, including scheduling, meeting logistics, and preparation of briefing materials. Respond to donor and constituent inquiries or route them appropriately. Provide administrative support to development officers, including calendar management, documentation, and workflow coordination.

Operational and Administrative Support: Support regional team operations, project management tasks, and internal process coordination. Maintain organized records and support compliance with Advancement policies. Ensure timely communication across regional and campus development partners. Maintain accurate donor and prospect records within CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce). Draft correspondence, acknowledgements, and donor-facing materials.

Prospect Research and Reporting: Conduct basic research on individuals and organizations to support fundraising strategies. Prepare prospect profiles, summaries, and meeting materials. Assist with portfolio tracking and customized reporting for development officers.
