Victoria and Thomas Martin School of Arts and Humanities has periodic openings for part-time, adjunct faculty to teach on site in the English program. The primary responsibility will be teaching first-year composition courses, English 101 and 102. Applicants may have the opportunity to teach a literature course in their field, depending on department needs. As part of our commitment to academic excellence, we are building a pool of skilled instructors who can contribute to students’ success through engaging and effective teaching. The principal responsibility of the position is teaching undergraduate students.
Position Overview:
Adjunct instructors in English will teach primarily within our first-year writing sequence (English 101 and English 102) focusing on critical thinking, rhetoric, and academic writing. Courses may be offered face-to-face, hybrid, online, or at off-campus locations depending on the University's needs. For the 2026-2027 year, there are opportunities to teach dual enrollment and on-site courses.

Master's degree in English or a related field.
Experience teaching college-level writing (preferred).
Proven record of quality instruction.
Ability to teach on site.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
Experience teaching high school English, AP English, or dual enrollment (beneficial).

Complete all required reports, such as early grade alerts, midterm grades, and final grades.
