The Director of Admissions supports the mission and vision of UT-Southern by providing leadership to achieve the institution’s enrollment goals – including the recruitment of traditional and non-traditional students across freshmen, transfer, dual-enrollment and graduate segments. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Integrated Enrollment & Brand Strategy, this role leads both the recruitment and operational admissions teams to deliver a personalized, high-touch, modern student recruitment experience.

This position is both strategic and operational – including the development and implementation of holistic recruitment strategies and systems operations to ensure that the admissions team’s efforts are fully integrated with marketing, brand, academics, athletics, and student experience. The Director of Admissions is expected to cultivate relationships across campus, coach people, and optimize enrollment outcomes in a competitive and evolving higher education landscape.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive admissions or enrollment management experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and driving measurable enrollment outcomes.
  • Experience using CRM systems and enrollment data to inform strategy.
  • Strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills.

Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience working within an integrated enrollment or marketing model.
  • Familiarity with digital recruitment strategies and funnel optimization.
  • Experience recruiting diverse student populations, including adult learners, transfer students, and online students.
  • Knowledge of UT System or similar public higher education environments.

Required level/type of experience and/or years of experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (Masters Preferred) from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Five (5) years of relevant university admissions experience.

The Director of Admissions will help shape the next era of UT Southern by ensuring that enrollment strategy, student experience, and brand promise are fully aligned and delivered at-scale.   • Prior leadership of a university Admissions Office within a university Enrollment Management unit.
    Knowledge and experience of setting and managing enrollment tracking functions and data
    Track record of professional development and engagement with appropriate professional organizations.
  • History of utilizing technology to engage constituents.
  • Progressive supervisory responsibility.

Enrollment Strategy & Outcomes:

  • Lead the execution of UT Southern’s undergraduate and graduate admissions strategy to achieve institutional enrollment targets and UT System priorities.
  • Own the recruitment funnel from prospect/inquiry to deposit, with accountability for lead &
    application generation, conversion, and melt mitigation.
  • Partner with IEBS leadership to translate institutional goals into actionable admissions plans by
    audience, region, and program.
  • Continuously assess market conditions, competitive positioning, and recruitment performance to
    recommend adjustments in strategy.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the admissions team, including brand ambassadors (counselors), coordinators, and support staff.
  • Establish a performance culture grounded in clear expectations, accountability, professional growth, and collaboration.
  • Set recruitment territories and goals; design and implement effective in-person and digital outreach
    strategies, ensuring balanced workloads and strong coverage.
  • Foster a student-first, service-oriented culture that reflects UT Southern’s values and brand promise.

Recruitment Operations & CRM Optimization:

  • Oversee daily admissions operations, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Serve as functional lead for CRM utilization (Element451), ensuring effective use of data, automation, segmentation, and reporting.
  • Partner with marketing and digital strategy teams to align campaigns, messaging, and outreach cadence.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors to optimize performance of enrollment strategies.
    Ensure seamless handoff points between admissions, marketing, financial aid, and student success.

Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor enrollment dashboards and key performance indicators; translate insights into action.
  • Produce regular enrollment forecasts and reports for IEBS leadership and campus stakeholders.
  • Use data to identify barriers, optimize processes, and test new recruitment approaches.
  • Champion a culture of evidence-based decision-making across the admissions team.

Cross-Campus & External Engagement

  • Serve as a collaborative partner to academic leadership, athletics, student life, financial aid, and
    marketing.
  • Represent UT Southern at recruitment events, high schools, community colleges, and system-wide
    initiatives.
  • Support special initiatives including online program growth, adult learner expansion, and regional
    recruitment (e.g., Huntsville, Middle Tennessee corridor).
