The Haslam College of Business (HCB) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, invites applications for a Digital Marketing Writer (Full-time, Exempt) to join our Office of Marketing & Public Relations. The Digital Marketing Writer is responsible for writing, editing, and optimizing written content that supports the college's marketing and communications efforts. This position creates audience-focused content for releases, web stories, websites, social media, videos, podcasts, email campaigns, and digital marketing initiatives, applying SEO and GEO best practices to improve engagement, visibility, and performance. The role requires strong writing, editing, and organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders across academic and administrative units.

Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field.

Experience:
Three (3) to six (6) years of professional experience in digital writing, content development, or marketing communications.
Demonstrated experience writing for digital platforms.
Working knowledge of SEO principles and content optimization.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Skilled in both AP and Chicago styles.
Strong written communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
Ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of campus stakeholders and audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience:
Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or public-sector communications.
Background in research translation.
Background in writing and ideation for digital marketing campaigns.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), email marketing platforms, and social media management tools.
Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics or similar platforms.
Knowledge of accessibility standards for digital content.
Work Location
- Location: Knoxville, TN
- This position is hybrid, with 4 days in office and 1 day remote.

- Content Development and Writing:
- Researches, writes, edits, and proofreads digital content for university websites, landing pages, blogs, and other web-based platforms.
- Develops written content for MarComm, including but not limited to, releases, web stories, social media, videos, podcasts, digital advertising, and integrated marketing campaigns.
- Produces email and eblast content in support of recruitment, engagement, and institutional marketing goals.
- Adapts messaging for audiences including prospective students, parents, alumni, faculty, corporate partners and recruiters, other business schools, staff, and external partners.
- SEO, GEO, and Content Optimization:
- Applies SEO and GEO strategies to written content to improve search visibility and audience reach.
- Incorporates keyword research provided by digital team findings into content development.
- Uses performance data and analytics from digital team to inform content updates and refinements.
- Collaboration and Brand Alignment:
- Collaborates with marketing strategists, designers, web developers, and college and campus partners to support coordinated marketing initiatives.
- Ensures content aligns with Haslam and university brand guidelines, voice, and messaging standards.
- Incorporates accessible communication practices into all written materials.
- Time Management and Workflow:
- Manages multiple writing projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
- Interaction with clients and sources for interviews, information gathering, content and editing discussion.
- Maintains version control and edits content based on feedback from multiple audiences.
- Assists with maintaining content calendars and campaign schedules for projects in which she/he is involved in MPR's project management system.
