The AV Administrator oversees and supports the deployment of AV systems across a variety of environments. This role operates on projects of all sizes, ensuring high standards of accuracy and quality. For initiatives, including new implementations, and upgrades, the position leads and directs project teams, providing clear guidance and support throughout each phase.

In addition, this position collaborates with senior staff contributing expertise while also functioning as an effective team member. The position mentors and supports junior staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring consistent service delivery. The AV Administrator oversees and supports the deployment of AV systems across a variety of environments. This role operates on projects of all sizes, ensuring high standards of accuracy and quality. Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years experience in AV System installation and installation management

  • Extensive knowledge of Audio Visual (AV) systems, including design, installation, and support.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Advanced technology proficiency relevant to AV environments.

  • Proven skills in managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines.

  • Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility in dynamic work settings.

  • Effective planning and organizational capabilities.

  • Ability to handle difficult or stressful situations with professional composure.

  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Experience in mentoring and training others.

  • Team Building and leadership experience.

Work Location

  • This position is onsite at the University of Tennessee Knoxville.
  • This position also requires occasional travel to site locations located throughout the state of Tennessee

Compensation and Benefits

  • UT market range: MR12

  • Anticipated hiring range: $83K-$85K

About The Department

We are part of the Office of Innovative Technology with our primary focus on Audio and Video technologies for the University. We support a wide variety of Audio/Video technologies including classroom AV, Conference Rooms, Broadcast, Digital Signage, Cable TV and Security Cameras


  • Supervise the Audio Visual (AV) installation and support team, ensuring effective deployment and maintenance of AV technologies.
  • Oversee the installation of AV systems in classrooms, conference rooms, digital signage locations, and other environments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage system implementation projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide clear direction and guidance to installation technicians throughout all project phases.
  • Analyze existing AV system designs, identify areas for improvement, and develop effective solutions to technical challenges.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex implementation Supervise the Audio Visual (AV) installation and support team, ensuring effective deployment and maintenance of AV technologies.
  • Oversee the installation of AV systems in classrooms, conference rooms, digital signage locations, and other environments.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage system implementation projects from inception to completion.
  • Provide clear direction and guidance to installation technicians throughout all project phases.
  • Analyze existing AV system designs, identify areas for improvement, and develop effective solutions to technical challenges.
  • issues as they arise, offering Tier-3 support for escalated technical problems.
  • Stay current with emerging audio visual, collaborative, and instructional technologies through ongoing research and professional development.
  • Deliver broadcast support for athletic events, ensuring high-quality audio and video experiences.
  • Collaborate with departmental coordinators to plan and oversee large-scale projects, including building moves and new construction initiatives.
  • Engage with end users to assess their audio visual needs and ensure solutions are aligned with organizational requirements.
