Mailroom Assistant

The Mailroom Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the university mailroom. This includes receiving, sorting, and distributing incoming mail and packages, preparing outgoing mail, assisting customers with mail services, and maintaining a clean and organized mailroom environment. The Mailroom Assistant will learn the administrative tasks of the office such as paying invoices and approving student time sheets to ensure efficient office continuity in the absence of the Mailroom Supervisor.

High school diploma and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Minimum hiring rate is $14.00 per hour (Market Range 03) - Salary commensurate with education and experience.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages to appropriate departments and individuals.
- Prepare and process outgoing mail and packages using appropriate postage and shipping methods.
- Assist students, faculty, and staff with mail-related inquiries and services at the mailroom counter.
- Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
- Perform inventory checks and restock mailroom supplies as needed.
- Operate office equipment such as postage meters, scanners, and computers.
- Ensure the mailroom is clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate mail delivery.
- Report any issues or discrepancies to the Mailroom Supervisor.
- Assist as backup for administrative processes in the absence of the Mailroom Supervisor.
