The Program Manager provides leadership and comprehensive support for the academic and operational functions of the Healthcare Division within the Graduate and Executive Education (GEE) department of the Haslam College of Business (HCB). This role has primary responsibility for the successful operations and delivery of two large executive programs, the Physician Executive MBA (PEMBA) and the Executive MBA in Healthcare Leadership (EMBA-HL), which collectively serve a significant cohort of working professionals each year. The Program Manager independently oversees all aspects of program delivery, including residence period logistics, student engagement, academic support services, and continuous process improvement to ensure a high-quality student experience. The position exercises considerable judgment in managing daily operations and coordinating with faculty, students, and external service providers. In addition, the Program Manager contributes to recruitment, admissions, and marketing efforts in collaboration with division leadership and the broader GEE team.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience: 5 years of professional work experience in areas such as program management, customer service, student services, and/or healthcare
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
    • Knowledge of higher education operations, degree program management, student services, and learning management systems.

    • Skills in program planning, scheduling, logistics coordination, tracking, reporting, and overall program support.

    • Skills in communication, collaboration across departments, and building effective relationships with faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

    • Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities and schedules, and maintain attention to detail.

    • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment while keeping faculty, staff, and students informed and on track.

    • Ability to adapt to changing program needs and timelines while maintaining accountability and high-quality standards.

  • Program Leadership and Operations
    • Provides comprehensive oversight for all operational and logistical aspects of the Physician Executive MBA (PEMBA) and Healthcare Leadership Executive MBA (EMBA-HL) programs, ensuring efficient planning, scheduling, and delivery of academic and co-curricular activities.
    • Manages program calendars, residence period logistics, and special events, including the annual Washington, D.C. residency, off-campus learning and more, while liaising with GEE partners such as DART (IT), Events, and the Financial Information Office (FIO).
    • Supervises program coordinator and/or student workers to support daily operations, workflow, and execution of program and non-degree activities.
  • Student Experience and Relationship Management
    • Serves as the primary point of contact for EMBA-HL and PEMBA students, managing communications related to on-boarding, course milestones, travel logistics, and graduation requirements.
    • Leads the coordination of all student-facing experiences, including on-campus sessions and the Washington, D.C. trip, ensuring all logistical details and events are executed seamlessly.
  • Faculty and Institutional Collaboration
    • Collaborates closely with EMBA program leadership, faculty, and staff across the Haslam College of Business (HCB) to support curriculum planning, scheduling, and delivery of course content.
    • Assists with faculty-related processes such as pay administration, course materials, and classroom logistics, while contributing to strong, collegial relationships with teaching staff and guest speakers.
    • Coordinates with GEE leadership, FIO, admissions, and academic departments to align goals and maintain efficient operations across all programs.
    • Identifies and implements opportunities for program improvement, leveraging data and feedback to enhance the quality and effectiveness of executive education offerings.
  • Non-Degree Program Oversight
    • Provides supervisory oversight and backup support for non-degree executive education programming support within the Healthcare Division.
    • Serves as a knowledgeable backup for non-degree program delivery and logistics when needed to maintain continuity of operations.
