This part-time position with the Center for Transportation Research will handle general administrative responsibilities, including printing and distributing course completion certificates, general mailing, organizing files, and routine filing. This position will also help deliver vehicles to clients and provide general, as-needed support for the Center for Transportation Research. This position will count seat belt usage during specific months of the year and will be on call as needed for other administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • Valid driver's license
  • 6 Months of office experience using Microsoft products including Word and Excel

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to organize files
  • Knowledge of general office equipment such as multifunction devices
  • Microsoft Office software skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
  • Ability to use tact and discretion when dealing with a variety of issues

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 1 year of office experience using Microsoft products including Word, Excel and Photoshop.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • The ability to work independently
  • Ability to answer a multiline phone

Compensation:

  • Market Range 03, salary dependent on qualifications and experience

About The Department:

CTR is part of the Tickle College of Engineering at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. CTR researchers and staff members work with the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, and many other partners to improve transportation and promote the safe and efficient transport of goods and people.


  • Printing certificates and general administrative duties including filing and organization
  • Tracks and compiles data; researches and prepares attendance reports.
  • Prepares materials for meetings such as agendas or organizing documents
  • Provides support materials for meetings and events; including space for class sessions and exams.
  • Picks up vehicles from UT and delivers them to clients in Nashville.
  • Fills up vehicles with gas and periodically rotates vehicles to ensure batteries stay charged.
  • Seat belt counts.
  • Travels to specified locations across the state and counts daily seat belt usage for TDOT grant.
