The Senior Electrician II is a highly skilled and experienced professional responsible for overseeing and performing the most technical and complex electrical assignments at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, the ability to mentor and supervise other electricians, and a commitment to maintaining electrical systems across campus properties. The Senior Electrician II plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and continuity of electrical services, working closely with contractors, other trades, and the Facilities Services team.

Required Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED
- Experience: Seven (7) years of equivalent field experience in electrical systems. Education may be substituted for field experience on a year-for-year basis if education is related to electrical systems.
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Extensive experience in electrical systems installation, maintenance, and repair, with a deep understanding of the National Electric Code.
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor other electricians, providing technical guidance and ensuring work is performed to the highest standards.
- Ability to interpret drawings and electrical schematics.
- Ability to develop material ordering take off lists.
- Ability to carry out job duties and responsibilities independently.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
- This position involves working in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, with potential exposure to hazardous conditions and materials.
- Other Conditions: Valid Driver’s license

Compensation and Benefits
- UT market range: MR09
- Anticipated hiring range: $26 - $32/hour depending on candidate qualifications and experience

About The College/Department/Division
UT Facilities Services is responsible for the care and keeping of more than 300 facilities and utilities systems in and around Knoxville. As the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s largest non-academic department, team members are responsible for facilities maintenance and repair, custodial needs, landscaping and lawncare, utility work, in-house and capital construction projects, facilities planning and design, environmental initiatives, pest control, campus event services, and facilities administration functions for both the flagship campus and the agricultural institute. The Facilities Services staff provides around-the-clock coverage to ensure students, staff, faculty, and fans have a consistent and positive experience every time they step foot on Rocky Top.
- Oversee and perform the most technical and complex electrical assignments, ensuring compliance with the National Electric Code, as well as state and local codes.
- Supervise and provide advanced technical assistance and guidance to other electricians and designated personnel.
- Assist the Electrical Foreman in the performance of their duties and assume their responsibilities in their absence.
- Mentor and train junior electricians, ensuring they develop the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely and effectively.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and related electronic controls and devices to support construction, modification, and maintenance projects on campus.
- Maintain and operate electrical systems and equipment across all campus properties to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Inspect and repair electrical equipment and components regularly to ensure the safety of students, staff, the general public, and others who come into contact with campus facilities.
- Coordinate work with other trades and crafts, ensuring efficient and effective collaboration on construction, modification, and maintenance projects.
- Plan and assign work for self and others, ensuring tasks are completed on time and to the required technical standards.
- Interpret drawings and electrical schematics, develop material take-off lists, and order necessary materials for projects.
- Review completed work for technical adequacy and compliance with the National Electric Code and other relevant codes and standards.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed, including inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Enforce strict safety procedures, ensuring all electrical work is performed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in electrical systems and component maintenance, repair, and installation.
- Provide support for specialized events on campus, ensuring all electrical needs are met efficiently and safely.
- Maintain continuity of all electrical projects, ensuring they are completed to the highest standards and within the required timeframe.
- Assist contractors and other crafts in the performance of their duties related to electrical systems construction, modification, or maintenance projects.
