The College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville seeks a reliable and detail-oriented Data Manager with an impeccable work ethic. This position primarily works on an NIH/NINR R01 funded research project and secondarily on a pilot project. The Data Manager will be responsible for reviewing the completeness and accuracy of collected data, identifying missing data or values outside expected ranges, tracking data that is due but not yet collected, and exporting data from REDCap to SPSS. Additional tasks include merging datasets, communicating with team members (such as data collectors) about incomplete or overdue data, and ensuring all records are kept accurate and up to date.

This is a grant-funded position and is contingent upon the continued funding of the grant.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public health or major related to data science/management.
  • Proficient level of experience managing datasets at least 1 year

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must be able to work well and collaborate with others in a wide variety of positions in varying departments.
  • Must be able to work autonomously, solve problems and use critical thinking.

Work Location: Knoxville, TN onsite (1600 Accelerator Way, Knoxville, TN 37920)

Hours/week: 20 hours/week

Compensation and Benefits:

  • UT market range: MR05
  • Anticipated hiring range: $30/hr - $40/hr

Primary Duties:

  • Check for completeness and accuracy of collected data
  • Identify missing data or values outside expected ranges
  • Track data that is due but not yet collected
  • Export data from REDCap to SPSS
  • Merge datasets regularly and as needed
  • Communicate and follow-up with team members (e.g., data collectors) about data issues or upcoming data collection
  • Ensure all data is kept accurate, complete, and up to date
  • Summarize and visualize data trends using Excel (or similar tools) for team meetings and reports
  • This person will communicate with the principal investigator and project coordinator on a weekly basis regarding any issues encountered during data management process.
  • Attend weekly team meetings.
