The minimum starting salary for this position is $49,035. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree
• At least 2 years of experience in financial education, loan counseling, student services, or program coordination
• At least 1 year of experience training others (such as students, staff, etc.)
• At least 3 years of experience in customer service related field
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, education, student affairs, or related field
• AFCPE or NFEC financial counseling/coaching certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
• Experience supervising student workers or managing peer programs
• Familiarity with higher education environments and student development theory
• Knowledge of campus
• Experience using learning management systems (LMS). Experience in personal finance and/or financial planning
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Exceptional project management and time management skills
• Exceptional customer service skills and knowledge of basic service etiquette
• Exceptional oral (e.g., public speaking) and written communication skills
• Ability to work with software to develop learning modules
• Experience using learning management systems (LMS)
• Ability to write clearly, concisely, and correctly

• Ability to analyze and interpret data and make independent decisions

• Highly motivated, focused, and results-oriented
• Basic knowledge of personal finance
• Demonstrate knowledge of federal and private student loan repayment programs, repayment options, strategies, and regulations
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently

• Skilled at curriculum design and content development
• Knowledge of higher education, enrollment services, and student development
• Knowledge of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, including institutional and unit policies, procedures, and processes

The Division
The Enrollment Management (EM) division comprises more than 190 full-time staff who serve our students through the following departments and functions: Undergraduate Admissions, International Recruitment, Transfer Center, One Stop Student Services, Financial Aid and Scholarships, the Center for Financial Wellness, University Registrar, Pre-college Research Excellence Programs, EM Research & Analytics, EM Communications, and EM Operations. This is an on-campus position with some hybrid/remote work schedule flexibility.
Reporting to the Associate Director of the Center for Financial Wellness, the Coordinator of Financial Wellness Coaching & Operations is a key member of the Center for Financial Wellness (CFW) team, providing advanced financial wellness coaching while ensuring efficient day-to-day operations to support CFW’s mission. This role provides one-on-one and group financial wellness coaching to students, families, and alumni with a focus on loan debt reduction, repayment planning, debt management strategies, and long-term financial success.
The Coordinator advances the mission of the University and the Enrollment Management division by helping students make informed financial decisions that support persistence to graduation and prepare them for a confident transition into post-college life. This role will contribute to building a culture of lifelong financial wellness that supports academic and workforce success.
This role oversees the day-to-day operations of CFW, including supervising and developing financial wellness coaches and student staff, coordinating workshops and outreach initiatives, and collaborating with campus partners to embed financial education across the student experience. The position demands both expertise in delivering advanced financial coaching on complex topics and strong organizational skills to ensure the smooth, high-impact functioning of the office.
