Job Description

This in-person position is responsible for managing the University of Tennessee at Martin Online Programs. The role oversees the administrative, educational, and technical functions of UTM Online, including budget management, personnel supervision, strategic planning, program delivery, and staffing. The director will identify, develop, and manage online education and training initiatives, ensuring high-quality course delivery and supporting faculty and staff professional development within the UT Martin service area. The position also ensures compliance with all applicable regulations and accountability standards. Additionally, the director will develop, coordinate, and strengthen internal and external partnerships, advancing both Online Programs and the broader mission and strategic priorities of the university.

Responsibilities

• Develops goals and objectives for UTM Online Programs in alignment with UTM policy, mission, and strategic plan; establishes priorities and action plans to achieve these goals.
• Analyzes the long-term impact of decisions and plans on program success and sustainability.
• Ensures effective operations of Online Programs through program development, process improvement, and coordination with other units.
• Participates in internal and external committees, maintaining regular communication with stakeholders to address issues, facilitate information exchange, and clarify problems or requests.
• This contributes to management meetings to inform administration about strategies, challenges, and concerns.
• Manages the annual operating budget for Online Programs, including direct labor, materials and supplies, services, equipment maintenance, and replacement.
• Presents and justifies proposed budget adjustments (operating and capital expenditures) to the Executive Director of Regional Centers and Online Programs.
• Develop alternatives and provide justifications for cost containment or reduction initiatives.
• Establishes service standards for UTM Online Programs, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
• Plans, coordinates, and oversees the delivery of services and related procedures.
• Provides guidance and consultation to staff, faculty, and students regarding service delivery, strategies, and addressing issues or concerns.
• Defines qualifications and performance expectations for all staff positions, ensuring effective delivery of service.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and
• three years of relevant, progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree preferred
• Relevant certification may be preferred
• Full-time higher education experience
• Knowledge of higher education grants and contracts
