Job Description
The Department of Public Safety at the University of Tennessee at Martin has an opening for a Police Sergeant. This search is open to qualified applicants.
Responsibilities
Shift Commander:
* Supervise the night or afternoon shift of all on-duty officers and student workers.
* Provide deterrent patrols and investigate reported crimes, emergency calls and safety issues.
* Ensure all applicable reports are filed/property is secured.
* Train, evaluate, and discipline subordinates as dictated.
Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
* High school diploma and three years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
* Must be a certified officer in the state of Tennessee
* Must not have received disciplinary suspension or received two or more written reprimands for one year prior to opening.
* Must receive favorable promotion recommendations from chain of command
Preferred Qualifications:
* Two years of college
* Three years’ experience in law enforcement with some supervisory experience
