Job Description

The Office of University Relations at the University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for a Creative Services Coordinator. The Creative Services Coordinator plans and coordinates graphic design and production for university and departmental publications, digital media, and other graphics-oriented materials.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to: (1) meeting with clients, planning and creating all aspects of publications design to support the client’s ideas and requests; (2) preparing printing specifications for vendor quotes; (3) preparing and maintaining client files for various proof changes, specifications or quantity changes for digital or print use; (4) and producing digital media for web, social media or email. The position is also responsible for oversight of licensed-vendor designs in cooperation with the University of Tennessee Office of Trademark Licensing. Knowledge and skills are required using the Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis using InDesign and Illustrator, as well as a working knowledge of the printing process from paper selection to press proofs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s degree with graphic design experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Knowledge and skills using the Adobe Creative Suite. Greatest knowledge and skills using InDesign, secondary knowledge and skills using Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Knowledge of file preparation for print production or digital materials for on-campus productions and productions made through licensed vendors, meeting their file requirements.
• Ability to communicate with varied clients through phone, email, or face-to-face meetings.
• Minor knowledge of Associated Press news writing style and grammatical rules to allow for proofing of projects for clients prior to print or production.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting without direct supervision.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, prepare, and complete projects in a timely manner or by given deadline without direct supervision.
• A portfolio of original work is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Four to five years of experience in graphic design or related field and a focus in the design needs of higher education institution, or five or more years demonstrated magazine or newspaper layout and design experience.
• Working knowledge of commercial printing and press check procedures.
• Knowledge and understanding of higher education.
