Custodial Supervisor
Job Description
The Office of Housing is accepting applications for a Custodial Supervisor position. The Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily custodial operations across all residential facilities managed by the Office of Housing. This role ensures that all residence halls and associated spaces are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and visual appeal. The position plays a vital role in fostering a welcoming and healthy living environment for all student residents, guests, and staff.
This position requires strong organizational and leadership skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting the mission of the Office of Housing by ensuring a safe and comfortable residential experience for all students.
Responsibilities
Management
1. Supervises the performance of all custodial personnel; provide new employee training; evaluate employees; investigate complaints or performance concerns.
2. Manage and ensure effective employee relations; create an ethical, non-discriminatory and safe work environment; establish effective communication lines/methods
3. Plan, organize, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day custodial operation.
4. Develop and prepare work schedules; prioritizes and coordinates duties and assignments of custodial staff; assures effective work flow and custodial operations; adjusts work schedules as necessary.
6. Review and revise work procedures to assure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with established regulations, policies, and standards.
7. Communicate with housing administrators, vendors, sales representatives, and other regarding supplies and materials.
8. Order, stock and replenish supplies, provides the tools and equipment required to perform custodial service.
9. Assist in the management of residence halls by working with Hall Directors and Residence Assistants to contribute to the efficient operation of halls.
Custodial Duties
1. Assist with cleaning and maintaining facilities by daily inspecting buildings.
2. Assist with moving furniture, equipment, supplies and tools as needed.
3. Assist in the preparation and clean up for housing guests such as camp and conference attendees.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
• High school diploma and three years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience.
• Knowledge of custodial equipment, to include operation and safety.
• Knowledge in the use and safety of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to provide staff guidance and properly train on use of equipment, materials and safety policies and practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate quality and service standards, departmental policies, procedures, goals and expectations to staff.
• Ability to ensure that custodial staff provide timely, accurate and appropriate response to routine custodial issues as well as emergency response to more urgent situations.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Good time management skills.
• Basic computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Two years of custodial supervision or related field experience
