Program Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled at an accredited two or four-year college/university in the United States, pursuing an undergraduate, graduate and/or law degree

  • Graduating between Spring 2026 - Fall 2028

  • Have access to housing and transportation within the designated city (We do not offer housing or transportation accommodations)

2026 Summer Internship Program Dates: June 8 - August 14, 2026

Analytics/Data (Onsite: CA, FL, NY, TN)

How You’ll CREATE:

CA: Universal Music Enterprises (UMe)

The Analytics department at UMe is the data hub of catalog operations. Covering four primary verticals (Releases, Marketing, D2C & Commerce) Analytics provides a cross-functional team that impacts the entire catalog group.

  • Predictive Dashboard for the Billboard Hot 100

  • Generate Global Market Share estimates not currently available from industry sources

  • Scrape Wiki Sources to improve artist birthdate datasets

Ideal candidates will have:

  • SQL

  • Python

  • Experience with music datasets (through prior roles or school projects)

CA: Interscope Capitol

The analytics department works with all departments within Interscope Capitol to keep them informed of market trends, albums and single consumption from our artists, forecasting, as well as development of systems, tools and AI used by all departments in the organization.

  • Develop dynamic / automated models to help key stakeholders with business decisions

  • Create SQL scripts to extract necessary data from files that could be greater than 100 TB in size within Google BigQuery or other SQL platforms, and build visualizations in Tableau, Alteryx, and various other visualization tools to present findings in a visually compelling way

  • Identify user/partner/ track/album/market trends

  • Present overall findings to executives throughout the company in a clear and concise manner

  • Research & build customized reports based on financial and marketing data

  • Build, develop and maintain various partner, consumer behavior, and consumption trend projects with ongoing summaries and recommendations

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Passion and curiosity for music and the data that is used within the industry, preferably with in-depth knowledge of current music industry trends including key accounts, consumption pattern shifts, and the impact/variety of social media.

  • Ability to query our databases (using platforms such as BigQuery) accurately and efficiently using SQL

  • Advanced-level Excel skills, with the ability to develop dynamic models using named ranges/ formulaic references

NY: Island Records

The Analytics Department at Island Records supports key business decisions across A&R, Commerce, and Digital teams. We use data-driven insights to guide artist discovery, campaign performance, and audience strategy. Our team focuses on identifying trends, understanding fan behavior, and helping creative and business teams make informed decisions that drive the label forward.

  • Support the A&R research process by helping identify emerging artists and trends across digital platforms

  • Develop and test new methods for discovering potential talent and songs with viral potential

  • Assist in organizing and analyzing datasets to highlight drivers of audience growth and engagement

  • Conduct market research to identify online communities, audience clusters, and genre movements relevant to developing artists

We work a lot of shows and events for Interscope Capitol. We will provide interns with the ultimate experience of being a part of our day-to-day, booking travel for artists, schedules, budgeting and being a part of the creative for events from the jump.

How You’ll CREATE:

As a Republic Collective department, we work across Republic Records, Island Records, Mercury Records, and Def Jam. We help maintain touring schedules and manage ticket requests for staff and partners across all labels. In addition, we plan and promote fan activations for various artists across their tour.

Commerce (Onsite: NY)

How You’ll CREATE:

The Commerce Intern will support the label’s commercial strategy across digital streaming platforms (DSPs), retail, and direct-to-consumer (D2C) initiatives. This role will assist in tracking releases, compiling performance reports, researching market trends, and supporting promotional campaigns that drive audience growth and engagement. The intern will collaborate with the commerce team and gain hands-on experience with DSP partnerships, retail activations, and campaign planning.

  • Support weekly release campaigns by assisting with DSP pitching, playlist updates, and performance tracking across Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Pandora, Deezer, and other platforms.

  • Maintain and update key tools and trackers, including affiliate links, playlist assets, AMP and DSP asset folders, and physical product checklists.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to cross-departmental coordination on marketing and commerce initiatives.

  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and weekly chart recaps to highlight key performance trends.

Commerce (Onsite: TN)

How You’ll CREATE:

The commerce department handles E-commerce, retail, and overall consumption. The commerce department is a strategic revenue engine that supports both traditional and modern revenue streams- bridging physical retail, digital sales, and artist merchandise. This department plays a pivotal role in driving growth, efficiency, and visibility for our artists and labels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide daily release preorder tracking reports on a timely basis.

  • Place, track & communicate Artist Accommodation Orders w/Artist Management & Official Artist Stores.

  • Perform regular QA checks on active web stores to ensure proper shop functionality, marketing copy, and merchandising.

  • Proactively manage music and merchandise inventory levels across all stores and alert appropriate team members when product needs to be replenished.

  • Compile and provide various sales and inventory reports to relevant stakeholders as needed.

The Commercial team serves as the bridge between our artists, labels, and digital streaming partners. We develop and execute streaming strategies that elevate releases across platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and YouTube—driving visibility, playlisting, and audience growth. Our work blends data-driven insights with creative storytelling, ensuring each campaign connects authentically with fans while meeting commercial goals. Interns on our team gain hands-on experience in music marketing, DSP relations, campaign analysis, and cross-functional collaboration within a global music organization.

Commercial Strategy & Partnerships Team (Commerce) (Onsite: NY)

How You’ll CREATE:

The Commercial Strategy & Partnerships team (Commerce) team sits at the intersection of streaming, marketing, data, analytics and sales. The commerce team works alongside DSP partners to pitch artist projects and ideate new marketing opportunities as well as both retail partners and D2C teams.

  • Help research and maintain industry competitive releases document

  • Help compile assets for artist releases

  • Listen to upcoming artist releases and help pitch across DSPs for support

  • Assist in creating social assets for artists to post upon release

Creative Sync (Onsite: CA)

How You’ll CREATE:

The Interscope Capitol Sync team is responsible for all music placement strategy and execution across film, television, trailers, promos, soundtracks, and short form/social media for the Interscope Geffen A&M, Capitol Music Group, Verve, Interscope Capitol Miami, and Lost Highway label groups.

An intern in this department will gain hands-on experience with creative pitching, industry research, project tracking, and the overall sync process, from idea to on-screen use. This is an excellent role for someone interested in music supervision, entertainment marketing, or the business behind how songs end up in film and TV.

  • Creative Research & Pitch Support: -Research upcoming films, TV, trailer, & promo opportunities across trades, studio sites, and social platforms -Track new project announcements and update the film/TV grids -Help compile and maintain target lists for priority artists

  • Music Asset & Metadata Support: -Organize audio assets, stems, instrumentals, and pitch links for internal and external use -Ensure song metadata, credits, and versioning are accurate across trackers and shared folders

  • Weekly Mailers & Marketing Support: -Help prepare weekly client-facing sync mailers (trailers, film/TV, priority releases) -Pull highlights, write short descriptions, and gather artwork/visuals as needed

How You’ll CREATE:

The REPUBLIC Collective sync team is responsible for pitching music across four major labels for all media. We also meet with our artists to help realize their sync goals and potential. We work with our clients to deliver the best possible sync placements for frontline artists.

  • Assistance with weekly release schedule updates

  • Support the sync team with sorting and tagging within the audio library on DISCO

  • Support with weekly themed samplers through collecting data, compiling media quotes, and pulling album artwork through internal systems.

  • Assist with researching publisher info and pulling label copies using our internal systems

  • Track film and television release dates for our pending sync requests.

  • Work on a Monthly TV news update.

  • Help update our internal grids (artist, client, release schedules) as needed.

How You’ll CREATE:

The department oversees the D2C/eCommerce strategy for Interscope Capitol. This includes 140 artists' stores and the label stores for Interscope Records & Capitol Records.

  • Weekly Creative Marketing Report: Conduct research and compile insights into a weekly report highlighting current trends, campaigns, and opportunities relevant to the label’s marketing strategies.

  • Product Development Support: Assist in the development and execution of products for select retail and e-commerce stores, including ideation, coordination, and quality review.

  • Interscope Vinyl Collective & Definitive Sound Series One Step: Contribute to the ongoing growth of these premium vinyl initiatives through research, outreach, and creative input.

Film & TV Music (Onsite: CA)

How You’ll CREATE:

The Film & TV Music Department of UMe handles sync marketing and licensing for the Universal Music Group. We work closely with production companies, music supervisors, and clearance companies, in addition to UMG label personnel and artists.

The UMe Film & TV Music Intern will work directly with sync executives in marketing and clearing UMG-owned recorded music for film, television, advertising, and video games.

Responsibilities include:

Global Administration (Onsite: CA)

How You’ll CREATE:

Global Administration is responsible for core administration functions - copyright, royalties, income tracking, analytics and compliance. The department works with external clients and internal UMPG affiliate offices around the world and across the rest of the publishing business.

Covering core Global Administration functions, interns will be required to assist the following departments during their placement at UMPG:

  • Global Copyright

  • Global Royalty

  • Global Income Tracking and Analytics

  • Regional Administration

The interns will spend time learning and moving between teams, following the administration life cycle from basic system understating to more advanced knowledge of UMPG's administrative systems and processes.

Key duties across all departments will include:

  • Basic royalty matching and ingestion of data into UMPG core systems

  • Song entry, metadata research and enrichment

  • Registration of new and amended copyrights with different societies, service providers and partners on a global scale

  • Both regularized and bespoke Copyright reporting for internal and external recipients

  • Preparation and reconciliation of incoming royalty statements for processing and calculation

Team is responsible for Film and TV day to day, operational items and for assisting our studio partners with their various needs. Global Data Governance - overseeing internal policies, working with metadata and identifiers.

How You’ll CREATE:

Interns gain hands-on experience supporting artist development, release planning, and cross-department coordination, including opportunities to suggest potential artists for scouting and contribute to A&R research. This role offers a comprehensive view of how a modern label is built and run within one of the industry’s most influential music companies.

  • Support day-to-day label operations, including organizing assets, updating release documents, and assisting with project management workflows.

  • Conduct A&R research by tracking emerging artists, music trends, playlists, and social metrics, and present findings or artist suggestions to the team.

  • Assist the marketing team with campaign planning, asset organization, market research, and audience insights for upcoming releases.

Music For Advertising (Onsite: NY)

How You’ll CREATE:

The Music for Advertising team handles all ad-related sync inquires for UMPG's catalog. Our team is comprised of a clearance team that fields requests from music supervisors, brand, and ad agency clients, negotiates fees, and seeks approvals from our writers, and a creative team that proactively pitches the catalog for sync opportunities.

  • Various data entry tasks, including contact list updating, song database metadata tagging, tour date tracking, and more

  • Generate artist datasheets.

  • Track music chart data on a weekly basis.

  • Pick out new releases in the catalogue to share with the team at weekly meetings

North America Administration (Onsite: TN)

How You’ll CREATE:

The North America Administration team at UMPG encompasses Copyright, Royalties, Client Services, Mechanical Licensing, Income Tracking, and Audit functions. The team administers deals signed in the US and Canada and partners with internal global administration teams as part of UMPG's global administration unit.

  • Preparation and reconciliation of incoming royalty statements for processing and calculation

  • Contract administration assistance along the team's Copyright unit

  • Analytics review and data insights projects in support of income tracking and client support needs

  • Payee data projects as part of the Client Services function

  • Analysis of control procedures to ensure UMPG's compliance processes remain effective

Physical/Catalog (Onsite: CA)

How You’ll CREATE:

The physical (vinyl, CDs etc.) team is responsible for all aspects of VMG physical planning, strategy, marketing and forecasting. Whether it's frontline (new releases), K-Pop or, specialty catalog activations, this person would be working hand in hand with the entire team responsible for all the pieces to the physical puzzle. Alternatively, they'll have exposure to working with our global lead on Catalog. This includes deep dive optimization, data, marketing plans, digital strategy (DSPs), and planning ahead for milestone catalog anniversaries.

  • Work with the physical team to alleviate some of the workload that needs more attention and organization.

  • Participate in team meetings and planning. Keeping on task for certain physical releases to supplement the rollout plans.

  • Work alongside the team to set goals and objectives for certain projects.

How You’ll CREATE:

The Production Department sets up, schedules and delivers all digital and physical releases. Production works closely with Marketing, Digital Marketing, A&R, Business Affairs and other departments to collect assets (credits, lyrics, cover art, masters) and obtain BA clearances so we can build out releases in our internal systems and get them delivered to digital partners before deadlines. We work with these same departments, artist managers, designers and our physical planning team, to manufacture physical products as well- vinyl, CDs, cassettes, etc.

  • Learn the landscape and workflow of Production which includes physical / digital product set up, scheduling & delivery. This involves many internal data systems and processes.

The Publishing Administration team supports clients by registering songs to CCMG databases and royalty sources, processing new works, researching claims, resolving conflicts, and tracking cut songs. Once songs are registered, the team is also responsible for licensing and pitching CCMG songs to music supervisors and licensees. As songs exist in the marketplace, it is our responsibility to analyze royalties earned to ensure writers and artists are correctly paid for what they have earned. The video department works closely with YouTube and the supply chain team to migrate catalogs, monitor new releases and keep monetization flowing across all music video releases, including official videos and live performances. We also specialize in user generated content and licensing software/services. Our intern will assist the video department with conflict resolution, YouTube video monetization and channel optimization. They will spend time familiarizing themselves with the YouTube content management system, supply chain operations and work with the team to keep video distribution running smoothly.

Some projects will include a large ownership conflict cleanup as well as channel optimization, claim upgrading within YouTube, and monitoring the issues queue.

Ideal candidates will have:
