The overall mission of this position is to protect people and property, assume responsibility when Shift Sergeant is not available, maintain a peaceful, fun-filled and safe atmosphere, and enforce Security procedures at Dollywood while Creating Memories Worth Repeating for our guests.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assist in the transport of monies
- Assist the Safety/First Aid Department as assigned
- Assist with fire and flood prevention
- Be generally friendly and caring
- Be responsible for Animal Control Services for the shift
- Control and direct on park traffic
- Control park access at Host and service entrances
- Assist with crowd control on company property based on business need, attendance volume and special events
- Ensure Fire Suppression Equipment is operable in assigned areas
- Help Guests and Hosts with vehicle problems
- Assist lost Guests and separated parties
- Issue tickets for illegally parked Host vehicles
- Monitor Park alarm system
- Patrol buildings, Guest lot and Host parking lot to ensure areas are secure during shift
- Provide Dignitary Protection Services for Celebrities
- Respond to shoplifting, burglary and theft reports, participating in investigations as outlined in position procedures
- Respond to concerns related to Guest and Host conduct on company property utilizing proper deescalation methods
- Take possession of lost property and returning same to Lost & Found
- Assume the Shift Sergeant’s duties when the Sergeant is absent to include:
- Create Shift assignments and approve breaks
- Keep officers on his/her shift informed of all pertinent information during shift
- Share appreciation for jobs well done
- Ensure that all applicable security procedures are followed during his/her shift
- Lend personal assistance to officers in difficult situations when aware of need for additional assistance
- Ensure that all required paperwork, reports and logs on his/her shift are complete and accurate
- Email Daily Shift Reports to management
Management reserves the right to change and/or add to these duties at any time
Education and Experience Required
- Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age
- Certifiable by the State of Tennessee, licensed by the Department of Commerce & Insurance Private Protection Services as prescribed by the Tennessee Code Annotated 62-35 Act of 1922 (See attachments’ TCA 62-35-116, TCA 62-35-17)
- Preference given to applicants with prior Law enforcement or Security related experience
- Candidates from outside the Security Department must have a minimum of two years of experience in law enforcement or supervision
- First Aid and C.P.R. required or ability to obtain a certification
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to pass company required drug testing
- Must be willing and able to pass First Responder Course and apply material when needed on park
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles according to company policy. Must have valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance and acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Offers of employment are contingent upon satisfactory completion of background screening which includes criminal history and motor vehicle record check

- Must be sensitive to the needs of our Guests and feel empowered to act to meet their needs within company guidelines
- Must be able to utilize effective communication, problem solving, conflict management and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively with Guests and Hosts using approved communication methods
- Able to collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, execute, and deliver projects ahead of schedule, fostering open communication and mutual support to achieve shared goals
- Able to comprehend instructions and retain information
- Able to perform duties consistent with creating a safe and secure environment for hosts and guests
- Able to be flexible to handle frequent changes in priorities
- Perform vehicle and foot patrols for the protection of persons and property and respond to emergencies on Dollywood property
- Able to properly use de-escalation techniques when working through high conflict situations
Physical Requirements | Environmental Conditions
- Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
- Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours
- Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
- Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat
- Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved communication methods
