This role exists to provide ride/area specific training as well as maintaining paperwork, safe ride operations on a daily basis, host safety records, and safety equipment, and to support the team leaders in promoting a healthy, effective, and efficient team.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Supervise safety operations of one or more attractions and make quick and accurate decisions concerning operations
- Develop training schedules within budget.
- Ensure each host is properly trained and ensure required paperwork is filed in a timely manner. Follow up with each host as needed
- Continually inspect and audit area and divisional policies and procedures. Take immediate corrective action to prevent unsafe work practices for all hosts
- Respond to guests’ verbal comments in a friendly manner
- Visually observe guest and host actions and ride operation to prevent safety hazards.
- Assist guests and fellow hosts in emergency situations
- Create and implement improvements in safety, guest excellence and job satisfaction
- Steady guests while entering/exiting ride vehicles during evacuations
- Inspect harness and other safety equipment prior to use
- Memorize, follow and ensure enforcement of Safety/Emergency procedures to include reporting all employees who violate procedures
- Complete daily written reports and maintain ongoing host journals as well as maintain and update SDS folder for attraction
- Create and maintain hosts records
- Ensure adequate staffing of area on a daily basis
- Interact and build positive relationships with other departments
- Organize and conduct divisional/cost center safety meetings, with assistance from the Team Lead/Asst. Team Lead
- Approved as a General Industrial Trainer (GIT) and possess the ability to train others
- Identify and assist in the development of future safety trainers
- Assume Attractions Team Member job duties as needed (see individual job description)

Education and Experience Required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to speak in front of small and large groups of peers
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to analyze and remember information
- Ability to take initiative, self-supervising
- Able to memorize written safety standards and/or scripts
- Ability to train others in a positive yet constructive manner
- Submit and pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- Ability to safely operate company vehicles according to company policy. Must have valid driver’s license, proof of auto liability insurance and acceptable motor vehicle driving record.

- Ability to move about and react quickly while loading and unloading ride vehicles and while performing emergency evacuation
- Ability to tolerate heights of up to 200 ft to support ride operations
- Ability to climb evacuation steps and maintain good balance
- Ability to operate a fire extinguisher and ability to train hosts on its proper use
- Ability to properly wear personal protective equipment if/when required
- Ability to tolerate detergents and chemicals
- Able to prioritize tasks and complete assignments on time
- Able to be subjected to periodic random drug screening as outlined by policy
- Ability to hear warning communications and sounds
- Must be willing to work in any assigned area of Attractions and perform other functions as assigned
- Ability to visually and physically check seat restraints/harnesses
- Ability to speak clearly in order to operate two-way radio, pager and PA system
Physical Requirements | Environmental Conditions
- Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
- Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 14 hours
- Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
- Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat while working indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved communication methods.
