The right Visual Display and Merchandiser will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.
Under the direction of the Merchandise Manager, the Visual Display and Merchandiser proposes, executes, and communicates standards in areas related to visual display techniques, propping, and theming concepts and strategies within Dollywood Properties. All of this will be done in a manner consistent with the mission, values and operating philosophies and standards of the Dollywood Company.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Develops and implements seasonal décor plan and creates displays highlighting festival concepts and products within our parks and resorts
- Collaborates with revenue leadership to execute visual strategies that entertain, excite, and compel guests to purchase products
- Executes themes and concepts to support feature layouts, focal displays, and windows
- Creates and maintains a theme-compliant signage program designed to communicate product, pricing, and promotional details within
- Partners with operating team to execute shop resets, concept changes, and remodels
- Organizes and maintains incoming and outgoing visual product from Distribution Center
- Recommends and executes purchases involving display supply dollars to yield the best possible return
- Partners with operating team to educate via consistent shop tours and maintain merchandise display standards, safety and visual guidelines
- Prioritizes tasks and manages given projects to maximize time and labor usage
- Documents festival pre plan, plan and recap per festival
- Seeks feedback from Merchandise team leadership on the effectiveness and impact of the visual displays

Education and Experience Required
- Minimum of 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in business, retail, marketing, or design is preferred
- Minimum two (2) years of visual or merchandising experience in multi-unit retail locations preferred, high volume theme park retail experience or equivalent a plus
- Proven track record of positively coaching and influencing others with strong motivational and servant leadership skills
- Working knowledge of Excel, Power Point, Work, Outlook. Merchandise POS and inventory systems; experience with Pronto software a plus
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance and an acceptable driving record required
- Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check including motor vehicle and drug screen

- Able to operate/drive a company vehicle with valid driver’s license and insurance
- Able to meet the physical demands of the job
- Must be able to navigate stairs on a regular basis
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be able to operate small tools
- Must have manual dexterity necessary to complete all job duties, including but not limited to stooping, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling and kneeling
- Must be able to tolerate working in confined spaces
- Able to sit and/or stand for long/short periods
- Must be able to effectively communicate with fellow Guests and Hosts using approved communication methods
Physical and Cognitive Requirements
- Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs utilizing company’s safety guidelines for safe lifting
- Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 13 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
- Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
- Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
- Cognitive and Sensory Requirements: This position requires strong cognitive skills, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, process and retain information, have attention to detail and communicate effectively using approved methods
