The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support for leave-of-absence and workplace injury processes across the Tennessee Aquarium, Creative Discovery Museum, and Hunter Museum of American Art.

This position assists with workers’ compensation, FMLA, and short-term disability processes by helping maintain records, preparing documents, tracking information, and communicating with employees and vendors.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, professional, and able to handle confidential information appropriately.

Key Responsibilites

  1. Assist with tracking and maintaining FMLA, workers’ compensation, and short-term disability cases
  2. Prepare and organize leave-related paperwork, notices, and documentation
  3. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
  4. Help monitor leave dates, return-to-work information, and required documentation
  5. Respond to basic employee questions regarding leave procedures and documentation requirements
  6. Communicate professionally with employees, supervisors, medical providers, and third-party vendors
  7. Assist with workplace injury reporting and follow-up communication
  8. Support return-to-work coordination and related documentation
  9. Help maintain compliance with organizational policies and applicable leave procedures
  10. Handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous administrative, office support, customer service, or Human Resources experience preferred
  • Experience working with confidential information preferred
  • Familiarity with workers’ compensation, FMLA, or leave administration processes preferred
  • Associate’s degree or coursework in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Experience supporting leave administration or workplace injury processes preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications preferred

Seasonal, hourly ($16/hour); approx. 20-30 hours/week, on-site, flexible schedule. Position expected to last 3 months, with the possibility of extension based on organizational needs.
