The Tennessee Aquarium, rated the best Aquarium in America for overall guest satisfaction, attracts over 750,000 visitors each year. The Events Associate is responsible for providing support in executing events, exhibiting world-class customer service in the set-up, event execution, and breakdown of event spaces. Primary responsibilities include setting up event spaces according to specifications, arranging tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and décor.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Primary roles include transporting and setting tables, chairs, linens, and other event necessities. Exact setup requirements for an event will be provided by the Manager on Duty on an event-by-event basis.
  2. Ability to navigate multiple elevators and floors within the building, guests still actively touring and other unique building factors during setup.
  3. Understanding of the Aquarium campus and the building layouts within it.
  4. Assist in closing functions such as removing linens, bussing glasses, dishes, silverware, etc., and re-setting the room for next function.
  5. Greet every guest with a smile and genuine excitement.
  6. Handle guest problems/complaints effectively, keeping immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed.
  7. Actively engage and communicate with guests, staff and management.
  8. Maintain a clean work environment during event setup and breakdown.
  9. Flow between individual job functions seamlessly, accurately and quickly.
  10. Assist Manager on Duty with essential department functions and event details as needed.
  11. Work closely with caterers and contract labor to ensure quality and adhesion to Aquarium guidelines and recycling efforts during events.
  12. Ensure and maintain company standards in cashiering procedures and accuracy.

Part-time, hourly ($16/hour); Mostly evening and weekend work. Shifts could range from 1-2 events per month to 1-2 events per week, based on the number of contracted events.

Employees are required to offer availability for at least one event per month to maintain employment status with the Tennessee Aquarium Facility Rental Department.
