Job Summary/Basic Function
Reporting to the Associate Director of Recreation Programs, the Asst Dir-Outdoor Programs is responsible for overall supervision of the Middle Tennessee Outdoor Pursuits program and the Campus Recreation Bike Shop. This position supervises all aspects of the climbing wall, challenge course, trips and trip leader training program, the outdoor equipment rental center, bike shop, and performs other related projects as assigned. In addition, the Asst Dir-Outdoor Programs directs the First Year Experience trip (ROLL), which includes marketing, recruiting, training, and all assessment relative to the Campus Rec strategic plan. This position is an integral, administrative position that is part of the Campus Recreation team and is relied upon for departmental leadership, as well as being tasked with joining university committees to broaden outreach and strengthen impact across the Campus footprint.
Required Education
Masters degree in Recreation management, leadership, or closely related field.
Required Related Experience
Must have at least two (2) years relevant experience in working in outdoor recreation programs.
Required License/Registration/Certification
Wilderness First Responder Certification required.
Desirable Related Experience
Three (3) years supervising a comprehensive university outdoor recreation program preferred.
Desirable License/Registration/Certification
PCIA or AMGA certification preferred. ACA swiftwater rescue certification preferred.
