The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for leading daily kitchen operations, ensuring that meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and in alignment with nutritional and quality standards. This role supervises kitchen staff, maintains compliance with health regulations, and supports a clean, organized, and structured food service environment.
This position requires a dependable, detail-oriented, and hands-on leader who can manage kitchen operations while fostering teamwork, accountability, and service excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations
Oversee daily food preparation and meal service in alignment with school schedules.
Ensure meals are prepared according to established menus, nutritional guidelines, and quality standards.
Monitor food portioning, presentation, and timeliness of service.
Maintain an organized, efficient kitchen workflow to support consistent operations.
Staff Supervision & Training
Supervise kitchen staff, assigning tasks and ensuring accountability.
Train staff on food preparation techniques, safety protocols, and sanitation standards.
Provide ongoing guidance and support to maintain performance and efficiency.
Promote teamwork and maintain a positive, respectful work environment.
Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with local health regulations, food safety standards, and sanitation requirements.
Monitor proper food handling, storage, labeling, and temperature control procedures.
Conduct routine inspections to ensure cleanliness of kitchen, equipment, and work areas.
Maintain documentation related to health, safety, and compliance standards.
Inventory & Resource Management
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering of food, supplies, and kitchen materials.
Maintain proper storage and organization of all inventory.
Track usage to minimize waste and ensure cost-effective operations.
Coordinate with vendors and management regarding supply needs and deliveries.
Coordination & Communication
Communicate effectively with the Kitchen Director regarding menus, scheduling, and operational needs.
Support special events, school activities, and meal service adjustments as required.
OTHER DUTIES
Performs other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in kitchen or food service operations required.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations standards.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Food safety certification (ServSafe or equivalent).
Experience in a school, cafeteria, or institutional food service setting.
Knowledge of nutrition standards for youth or school meal programs.
Experience managing inventory, ordering, and vendor coordination.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a background check.
Food safety certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and school events as needed.
