Job Title: Aftercare Teacher (part-time)

Job Summary: Lamplighter aftercare teachers care for children from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Aftercare teachers on occasion will be the only point of contact between the school and parents. It is imperative to represent the school and espouse Lamplighter’s mission and core values while interacting with parents, children, and staff.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Implement Montessori principles and practices by fostering independent learning, and supporting each child’s needs.
• Cultivate and maintain a calm and respectful atmosphere that is organized, clean, and stimulating.
• Use positive behavior management techniques individually tailored to each child.
• Adhere to safety protocols for each student.
• Prepare internal and external reports and documents including but not limited to: daily record keeping for each child’s progress, injury/accident reports, and medication/allergy logs.
• Maintain positive relationships and communications with parents and peers.
• Work harmoniously with team members.
• Actively participate in required staff meetings.
• Assist with various end-of-school-day duties to facilitate a smooth transition from classroom to aftercare. This includes but is not limited to carline attendant, aftercare materials organization, aftercare playground, etc.
• Participate in annual professional development training.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Love, patience, and respect for children.
• Familiarity with Montessori principles and materials is highly desirable.
• Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong problem-solving skills are a must.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Collaborate effectively with team members.
• Highly motivated, ambitious, and collaborative.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, and universal precautions are a plus.
• Pass a background check and physical health screening.

Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma required.
• College degree preferred.
• Montessori or Teaching experience preferred.

Salary Range: $50/day

Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods of standing and active movement.
