Job Summary
McKee Foods is seeking an Electrician to join our plant engineering team. The Electrician performs multiple functions from basic to complex mechanical machinery and performs basic electrical skills. They are required to continually maintain and improve methods in the operation of the Packaging equipment to increase efficiency and prolong the life of the equipment.
Install, troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment
Execute general and preventive mechanical maintenance in designated facility areas
Maintain compliance with all documentation, safety, and operational protocols
Work flexibly across different areas of the facility as assigned
Appropriately utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE)
Collaborate effectively with all departments and support supervisory direction
Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas, demonstrating adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Transport tools and equipment as needed for job tasks
Ensure all work sites are maintained for cleanliness and safety during and after job completion
Promptly report any contamination risks or sanitation needs to management
Communicate potential or actual downtime to affected departments to ensure proactive response
Accurately complete required documentation for tasks and maintenance work
Exhibit professional behavior aligned with company policies and values
Practice strong communication with team members to ensure tasks are clearly understood and completed
Maintain consistent, reliable attendance per company policy
Practice excellent personal hygiene and contribute to a clean, safe work environment
Prioritize safety for self, colleagues, and product integrity at all times
Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a License to Operate (LTO) powered equipment
Demonstrated strong mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitude
Proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Effective planning and organizational abilities
Outstanding safety, attendance, and work performance record
Strong computer skills and comfort with maintenance software
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Self-motivated with a high degree of initiative and ability to work independently
Flexible and willing to work extended hours or off-shifts as required
Positive attitude toward change and continuous improvement
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners
Willingness to cross-train and support multiple departments
Openness to attend work-team meetings during non-standard hours
Demonstrated eagerness to learn and take on new tasks
Willingness to assist maintenance specialists and contribute wherever needed
Understanding of food safety protocols, product purity standards, and GMP compliance
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of four years of experience in a related electrical or mechanical field or equivalent combination of training and experience
Valid Journeyman’s License (required minimum for this role)
High school diploma or GED with at least one year of relevant industrial experience
Certificate in Industrial Electronics or a related technical discipline
Openness to off-shift training, classes, and seminars as needed
Willingness to grow into more advanced electrical/electronics responsibilities
