Pay
$17.82 - $20.68 / hour, depending on qualifications
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (as school schedule allows, other hours as needed)

Job Summary
McKee Foods Corporation is seeking a Design Drafter student to join our Corporate Engineering Team. This position is responsible for designing equipment and preparing technical drawings utilizing knowledge of engineering and design principles.
- Use computer aided software to design equipment, prepare drawings that are clear, concise, and complete with all necessary details such as dimensions, materials, procedures and calculations
- Verify and check drawings thoroughly for accuracy, errors or omissions
- Select proper components for new design specifications by contacting vendors and manufacturers for information
- Prepare and submit work orders and material requisitions required for equipment and machinery fabrication and installation. Correspond and collaborate with engineers, installation crews, Shops, and Purchasing
- Estimate total drafting time and coordinate estimates for fabrication and installation
- Take accurate field measurements for use in creating documents
- Coordinate and assist with equipment or product testing
- Support internal customers by providing drawings and technical support
- Generate and maintain project status reports and be an active participant in project team meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Travel to branch plants and supplier facilities as required
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Currently attending or recent graduate from an accredited design drafting or engineering program
- Good academic standing and attendance record
- Demonstrated proficiency in drafting skills to include solid modeling of parts and assemblies, detailing drawings, field dimensioning and design
- Experience with Solidworks
- Strong math skills with ability to accurately measure parts
- Strong computer skills
- Flexibility to quickly adjust the planned work for business need
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple project activities
- High level of initiative, assertiveness and self-direction
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to excel in a project team environment and to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in equipment design with knowledge of design principles
- 1+ years of formal drafting training
- Aptitude to research, analyze and resolve design conflict in fabrications and installations
- Aptitude to assemble and complete detailed drawing packages which includes: engineer final review, shop coordination, and installation support
- Experience with AutoCAD, Maximo, DBWorks, & Microsoft Office Tools
- Familiarity with Shop Manufacturing Processes
- Experience with continuous process improvement and standardization
- Familiarity with machine design and power transmission components
- Familiarity with fluid flow and heat transfer system design (e.g. piping, pumps, tanks, & valves)
- Minimum GPA of 2.75
