THE JOB
The Director of Media Relations will lead strategic communications initiatives and elevate storytelling to support the business objectives for clubs, theaters and amphitheaters in Venue Nation’s diverse portfolio. This role will focus on crafting thoughtful and creative communication plans that go beyond traditional press releases, utilizing new tools and platforms to tell compelling stories. The Director will play a key role in optimizing processes and engaging with the press to inform and educate about the important role music venues play in communities and the industry.
WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO
- Develop and execute strategic communications plans in that elevate the division and key initiatives through creative storytelling and compelling narratives. Campaigns will include media relations, social media and content strategies and influencer engagement.
- Craft innovative and engaging stories that leverage digital and social-driven content and are tailored to different audiences.
- Create and update key messages, including talking points, presentations, website copy, pitches, and media alerts to be consistent with division narratives.
- Manage multiple facets of communications programs including media outreach, messaging, campaign execution and reporting.
- Identify new opportunities to build and maintain media relationships beyond reactive media response.
- Cultivate deeper relationships with the press by providing background information, education, and build understanding of Venue Nation.
- Develop narratives for Venue Nation that resonate with fans, media and community stakeholders that highlight the social and economic benefits music venues bring to communities.
- Develop processes and SOPs that improve the communications function to better serve the division.
- Review and analyze program results through campaign tracking and analytics reporting to leverage data-driven decision making.
- Monitor and respond to incoming media inquiries, providing real-time coverage for inbound inquiries, coordinating and drafting responses.
- Collaborate with brand fulfillment and marketing teams to ensure narratives across the fan experience.
- Support special projects that contribute to Venue Nation’s business objectives.
WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or Writing strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications or in the entertainment industry required, emphasis on media relations, internal communications and digital communications strongly preferred.
- Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information and present it in a clear, concise and conversational manner.
- Strategic thinking with proven experience of delivering results with impact.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and adapt to rapidly changing business needs.
- Proven experience of delivering results with impact.

The expected compensation for this position is:
$124,000.00 USD - $155,000.00 USD** Pay is based on a number of factors including market location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
