Summary/Purpose |
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide engineering services to assigned manufacturing areas. This position also helps Maintenance with machine troubleshooting; supports manufacturing with quality/productivity & cost improvements; assists with new capital project purchases; develops engineering reports; and other duties as assigned. |
Essential Duties and Accountabilities: |
- Provides engineering services to assigned area of responsibility.
- Investigation/Countermeasure of machine problems.
- Work with Mfg./Maintenance on problems, downtime issues, and improvement projects.
- Document setup procedures, technical instructions and PM instructions.
- Troubleshoot machine problems, controls problems, and quality problems.
- Understand, interpret, and modify: NC Programs, machine drawings, electrical drawings.
- Performs programming for casting and related equipment.
- Analyses process/equipment problems for long term solutions.
- Continuously improves assigned area processes.
- Performs process testing as assigned.
- Participates in Kaizen teams.
- Participates in Daily Operations Review activity.
- Administer process changes in engineering documents.
- Assesses spare part problems and make appropriate changes, as approved.
- Grooms new equipment to meet production and quality requirements.
- Performs equipment capability studies and P.F.M.E.A.
- Assists with new capital purchases.
- Makes engineering reports as required for process development or troubleshooting.
- Performs housekeeping duties, as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- May travel to outside vendors for equipment runoff.

Education and Experience: |
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering related discipline plus 5 years of experience in job related field.
- Related experience shall include blueprint reading, troubleshooting, and integrating electrical hardware/software
- Previous experience in high volume manufacturing environment
- PLC troubleshooting experience
- Project management experience is desired

- Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
- Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time.
