Logistics/Subcontracting Manager
Draslovka is seeking a Logistics/Subcontracting Manager to join our growing Supply Chain team. In this role, you will support both Supply Chain and Operations by ensuring a reliable, compliant, and cost‑effective product distribution network that serves customers across domestic and international markets. This is a highly visible position that plays a key role in optimizing logistics execution, rail operations, subcontracting oversight, and transportation compliance for the Memphis site and broader network.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Logistics Operations -
- Create and implement best practice logistics principles, policies, and processes across the organization to improve operational and financial performance.
- Develop and execute on daily/weekly tactical distribution plans, ensuring capacity & equipment are available when/where needed
- Develop & track annual Fixed & Variable FPDE budget. Maintain rolling 18 month forecast. Investigate and resolve variances vs forecast.
- Manage Memphis Site rail operation, working with site switch operator & tenants to ensure switch reliability
- Track transportation equipment to ensure fleet is positioned to execute on distribution plan. Work with Fleet Engineer & operations sites to maintain & inspect equipment without disrupting distribution plan
- Provide guidance to procurement for carrier/vendor negotiations, selection strategies, and implementations.
- Develop, in concert with procurement, supplier performance metrics and periodically review with supplier base.
- Develop and maintain national and international relationships with transportation providers.
- Develop capacity plan forecast for service providers to ensure adequate shipping capacity when needed.
- Continuously optimize distribution network to improve cost & enhance customer experience.
- Develop distribution plans and cost models for new projects.
- Develop knowledge of transport requirements - DOT/IMO/Transport Canada/Mexico SCT. Ensure shipping personnel are compliant with regulations network wide.
- Lead investigations and track distribution related incidents. Help coordinate response to reported incidents in real time.
- Maintain ERP system (SAP) with current freight rates/costs, routes & transit times.
- Perform invoice review/approval, ensure timely payment to vendors.
Subcontracting Management -
- Manage subcontracting agreements, ensuring compliance for both Draslovka and third‑party partners.
- Coordinate with Procurement on contract amendments, renewals, and extensions; partner with Legal to resolve conflicts or compliance issues.
- Develop forecasts based on terminal requirements and identify capacity constraints or improvement opportunities.
- Create and manage annual subcontracting budgets and purchase requisitions/orders.
- Develop long‑term subcontracting strategies aligned with the company’s five‑year business plan.
- Design audit protocols and lead periodic audits (contract, safety, financial, distribution). Maintain audit records for future reference.
- Represent operations on projects involving contract manufacturing.
- Track and present key performance metrics during monthly supply reviews.
- Reconcile monthly inventory counts.
- Maintain subcontracting-related SAP data.
- Review and approve subcontractor invoices to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
To be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in hazardous materials handling/transportation, warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Experience with global product movement and distribution.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- ERP experience (SAP preferred).
The following is preferred for this role:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management
- Familiarity DOT/IMO/Transport Canada/Mexico SCT
- SAP experience in a product distribution environment
