The Pastry Chef works in support of the Sous Chef and Executive Chef to prepare a variety of healthy and high-quality baked goods in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
The Pastry Chef Duties
- Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, breads, and other baked goods to consistent quality standards.
- Measure ingredients accurately and manage baking times, temperatures, and production schedules.
- Develop new recipes, seasonal menus, and creative dessert presentations.
- Ensure that standards for flavor, quality, and presentation are met consistently and align with Clayton’s vision and branding for food production.
- Perform food preparation and cooking tasks for plated meals, buffets, and action stations as needed.
- Assist with recipe testing and development in collaboration with Sous Chef and Executive Chef when necessary.
- Monitor ingredient inventory, minimize waste, and coordinate with the wider kitchen team to support effective daily operations.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, cleanliness, and proper storage procedures.
- Ensure baking equipment is clean, well maintained, and properly stored.
The Pastry Chef Requirements
- Good attitude, strong work ethic, and ready to provide a world class experience in fast-paced environment
- Must have a professional demeanor and ability to work collaboratively
- Have a creative ability and keen attention to detail
- Must have experience calculating food amounts based off party size to mathematically meet business needs
- In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food prep, and nutrition
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Years of Related Experience: 2+ years’ experience in baking / pastry or similar field
Licenses/Certifications (leave blank if not applicable): Must have or be able to obtain ServSafe certification within first 90 days of employment
