The People Services and Benefits Coordinator I serves as the first point of contact for Team Members seeking support across Benefits, HR/People Services, Workday, and defined Total Rewards questions. This role provides timely, accurate, and empathetic assistance while delivering a seamless Team Member experience.

The People Services and Benefits Coordinator I resolves routine questions independently and triages more specialized or complex needs to the appropriate subject matter experts or Team Member Services Specialists. This position plays a key role in providing consistent, high-quality service to all Team Members while contributing to the continued growth of the Team Member Services model, quality service to all Team Members while contributing to the continued growth of the Team Member Services model.

People Services and Benefits Coordinator I Job Duties

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for team members’ benefits, Workday, and defined Total Rewards inquiries via phone, email, and ticketing systems, achieving a 70–80% first‑contact resolution rate.

  • Provide clear, helpful guidance on topics including:

  • Medical, dental, vision, and other benefit offerings

  • Workday support (profile updates, job data, self-service tasks)

  • Defined Total Rewards inquiries

  • Deliver service with a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and empathy.

  • Follow documented workflows to ensure consistency and accuracy.

  • New hire enrollment completion audit and proactive communication

  • Complete creditable coverage, and similar letters for Team Members

  • Resolve routine inquiries independently using knowledge bases, policies and procedures, and system resources.

  • Identify when an inquiry requires more specialized expertise and route it promptly to the correct Total Rewards or HR partner (Benefits, LOA, Payroll, HRBPs, etc.).

  • Ensure all tickets are properly documented, categorized, and closed out in a timely manner.

  • Monitor open cases and follow up to ensure timely resolution.

  • Perform data validation, upload documents, and support routine administrative processes including home office badge support.

  • Assist with tasks related to annual events such as Open Enrollment, ACA, audits, etc.

  • Support compliance-driven activities like verification requests or required mailings.

  • Maintain updated knowledge of benefits, policies, and platform changes.

  • Open and deliver mail to appropriate Total Reward teams. Scan and document arrears checks and similar items.

  • Provide feedback on recurring Team Member questions to help improve communications, resources, and processes.

  • Contribute to updates of FAQs, knowledge articles, and internal documentation.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance the Team Member experience.

  • Demonstrate Clayton’s values through compassionate, solution-oriented service.

  • Help Team Members feel supported, informed, and valued regardless of inquiry type.

  • Uphold confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

People Services and Benefits Coordinator Requirements

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain information clearly and patiently.

  • Ability to handle multiple inquiries at once with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience with HRIS systems (Workday preferred), case management tools, or benefits platforms.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and service mindset while maintaining a positive and friendly attitude.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of a computer in an office environment.

  • Have the proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and urgency are expected.

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent

Years of Related Experience: 1–3 years of experience in HR, benefits, customer service, or related support roles (or equivalent combination of education/experience).
