EPM Profitability & Budget Lead

The EPM Profitability & Budget Lead drives the configuration, enhancement, and maintenance of the EPM Budget and Profitability modules to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality financial planning processes across the organization. This role collaborates closely with business unit leaders, functional analysts, and technology teams to support budgeting, forecasting, data governance, and metadata management. Success in this role requires a high degree of curiosity, a visionary mindset, and a passion for understanding both business needs and modern technology. The Lead is expected to think beyond boundaries, challenge the status quo, and deliver innovative, smart solutions that elevate process efficiency and organizational insight.
This role plays a key partner in our internal Oracle EPM Center of Excellence, guiding best practices, driving process maturity, and ensuring strategic alignment across all EPM-related initiatives.
The EPM Profitability & Budget Lead Duties
- Configure, update, enhance, and maintain the EPM budget module.
- Work with business unit leaders to set budgets, configure data and metadata, and understand downstream impacts.
- Make recommendations to the BUs to help standardize, ensure consistencies, and gain efficiencies within the EPM Module.
- Drive the budget process by setting timelines and following up to ensure timelines are met across Clayton.
- Drive and configure enhancements while making solid recommendations to various management levels.
- Handle Enterprise-wide budgeting processes (inclusive of the CPG Builders, Silverton and 21st Mortgage)
- Understand and account for project delays to ensure timely completion of all projects by deadlines.
- Develop backup plans in advance and execute in situations where deadlines cannot be met.
- Partner with Lead Functional Analyst to create one year forecasting models using budget and true results to ensure business needs are being met.
- Provide design recommendations, budget governance and configure the module to optimize information flows.
- Serve as subject matter expert on profitability module.
- Work to add all of Clayton’s business units to utilize profitability module.
- Work with BUs for Profitability Enhancements and test and evaluate the monthly application updates.
- Identifies how changes can have a downstream impact; offers solutions as necessary.
- Recognize issues as they arise with ability to resolve and provide guidance.
- Drive PCM Projects to the finish.
- Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics business unit and solution data availability to meet the needs of the Business.
- EDMC Metadata Management
- Manage Intake and approval of GL Segments.
- Validate segment requests meet Chart of Accounts governance policy.
- Validate deployment of new segments and meet business requirements and expected behavior in downstream systems.
- Collaborate with technology teams on testing system processes and evaluating updates.
- Responsible for evaluating, testing, implementing, and training business SMEs on regular updates for EPM.
- Ownership and responsibility for driving the timelines and deadlines for testing and evaluation.
- Serve as FCC backup and support configurations.
- Can support FCC configurations, data reconsolidations, mappings and necessary rebuilds and updates.
- Speak for BUs for design and configuration needs.
- Ensure the BUs have the data necessary for success.
The EPM Profitability & Budget Lead Requirements
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
- Audit/Accounting background preferred
- Ability to run queries in SQL
- Prior experience with annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Oracle Planning and Budget and Enterprise Data Management Tool experience
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Excellent organizational skills
- Highly detail oriented and analytical
- Ability to think outside the box and solve problems

- Ability to confidently communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently with leaders at all levels

Education: 4-year college degree with Bachelor’s in Business Information Systems, Accounting, Finance or related area.
Years of Related Experience: Minimum of 7 years of related experience
Licenses/Certifications CPA preferred
