Retail Field Audit Supervisor

Position Summary
The primary responsibilities of the Retail Field Audit Supervisor are to conduct audits of Clayton-owned Retail home centers (HC) and assist direct reports in all aspects of managing the RFA team. This role will also assist as necessary with higher level analysis of HC audit performance.
Primary Functions
- Perform Home Center (HC) Audits:
- Plan and arrange travel to the HC
- Conduct audit using prescribed approach
- Record audit results in prescribed, standardized format
- Communicate with local HC Manager (HCM) on findings
- Appropriately score individual audit line items (Scorecard) according to audit rules
- Coach HCM on how to correct or improve on weak areas as indicated by the audit results
- Provide contact information and actively work to build relationships with all HC team members
- Monitor RFA schedules and oversee auditors, reviewing work for accuracy and completeness
- Log audits into Planning document
- Monitor team metric reports:
- Anti-silo initiative
- Quality
- Pace
- Monitor progress of new hires, shadowing schedules
- Onboard and train new hires, serve as a subject matter expert and resource for team
- Own performance management and talent development of direct reports to include activities such as regular 1:1s, performance reviews, development plans, etc.
- Perform audit Quality Control functions to include:
- Review audit summary emails
- Review final audit packages
- Field RFA questions and guide retail management communication when necessary
- Review and monitor feedback from field
- Assist in Investigations research/reporting/follow-up and special projects as needed:
- Participate and assist in planning of investigations
- Collect, organize, analyze raw data and original documentation
- Create summaries of findings
- Travel to where needed to observe and collect information
- Conduct interviews of HC personnel, contractors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 4-year degree in business or equivalent practical experience
- 1-2 years of operational auditing experience highly preferred
- Audit disciplines, especially competent in all areas of a HC audit (financial, compliance/safety, retail objectives)
- Strong business analyst skills, as well as familiarity/ability to read and interpret a profit and loss statement and other reports/documents supporting same.
- Possess strong working knowledge, ability to learn and become proficient in understanding a number of Clayton’s processes and will use several supporting electronic information systems, then use them to directly access information to complete HC audits or collaborate on projects – LINK reports, Vantage (Sales Force), SAP-Concur, MS Office, Adobe, video conferencing tools, Tableau, proprietary imaging systems, sales commission reporting, variety of retail reports (income statements, accounts payable), allowance schedule (deal budgets), inventory management, payroll, manufacturing re-imbursement systems (bill-back system).

- Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels of management and staff to professionally and concisely communicate (in writing) HC audit summaries via email, and situational summaries as they occur, to various persons in retail and internal audit managers
- Detail oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines, complete tasks timely and follow up as needed with high accuracy and thoroughness
- Self-starter with ability to work under limited supervision
- Specific business knowledge obtained through business process training or special assignments preferred
- High tolerance for being “on the road” for most weeks throughout the year
- Coachable
- Basic understanding of business accounting (BSBA degree preferred, not necessary)
- Interpersonal, must relate to and effectively communicate with:
- People of various positions within the retail company, overall
- People with various management styles and personality types
- Time management – no “clocking in”, must complete the work within the time designated
- Self-management – own/make your schedule to a significant degree
- Attention to detail coupled with ability to focus on what is important, this is critical to success in the daily work
Travel Requirements
Must be able to travel up to 80%. These audits are performed at retail HCs located in nearly 30 states across the USA. Part of the audit work involves site visits to homes set up in the field and the circumstances found at homesites will vary. Care must be taken to avoid risks to personal safety, whether it be dogs, outcomes related to assumed/presumed trespassing (homes set up on family-owned land) or from anyone who might be occupying a home that should not currently occupy the home, and the varied risks associated with visiting a home still under construction.
