We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Material Planner/Inventory Control Specialist to join our operations team. This hybrid role is responsible for ensuring that raw materials, components, and finished goods are available to meet production schedules while maintaining optimal inventory levels. The ideal candidate will leverage Oracle ERP to plan, release, and track work orders while maintaining tight control over inventory to support on-time delivery, cost control, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Material Planning
- Develop, monitor, and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) using Oracle ERP.
- Release and manage work orders to production, ensuring materials and components are available on time.
- Collaborate with purchasing, production, and engineering teams to forecast demand and align material supply with manufacturing schedules.
- Adjust plans in response to demand changes, supply disruptions, or shifting production priorities.
- Analyze historical usage and trends to improve forecast accuracy.
Inventory Control
- Maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation of variances.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory, ensuring optimal inventory turns.
- Implement best practices for inventory accuracy, storage, and movement within warehouses.
- Develop and track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, turns, and days of supply.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with procurement to resolve supplier issues and improve lead times.
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure materials are staged and available for released work orders.
- Work closely with logistics and warehouse teams to improve flow of goods.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning, scheduling, and inventory control.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in material planning, inventory control, or related supply chain function.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle ERP (or similar enterprise system) in material planning and work order management.
- Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively across teams and with external suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
- APICS/CPIM or similar supply chain certification.
- Experience in manufacturing or assembly operations.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
