The Department of Chemistry Physics at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2027. We are seeking a collaborative and student-centered candidate who is committed to excellence in teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, scholarship, and professional engagement. The successful candidate will develop a strong undergraduate research program while teaching a range of introductory physics courses (including laboratory courses) that support pre-health and audio engineering students. The Department of Chemistry and Physics does not rely on teaching assistants in any courses. Tenure-track faculty will also be expected to teach Belmont Foundations (general education) courses for general university students. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, student mentoring, scholarly activity, and college and university service, and the duties listed below: Complete 24 workload hours, or the equivalent, per academic year. Advise and mentor students in research and other class-related projects. Engage in activities to support the mission and vision of Belmont University and the College of Science and Mathematics. Participate in department, college, and university committee work. Engage in scholarly activity and professional development. Advise students in course selection and degree completion. Participate in a local church or faith community and engage with the broader community. Abide by all relevant university, college, and department procedures and policies. Other duties as assigned. All Belmont undergraduates complete an innovative general education program with significant interdisciplinary components, Belmont University is particularly seeking applicants who can demonstrate the interest and ability to work collaboratively in course design and to teach interdisciplinary and topical courses in this program.
