Applied Guitar Rank: Instructor/Assistant Professor The School of Music in the College of Music and Performing Arts at Belmont University is seeking applications for a tenure track (Assistant Professor) or non-tenure track (Instructor), beginning August 1, 2027. The primary responsibilities for this position include providing instruction in undergraduate and graduate commercial applied guitar. Other courses in performance and style and or/direction of an instrumental ensemble in the commercial genre may be included based on candidate’s background and area of expertise. An annual teaching load would include a combination of applied lessons and academic courses equaling a 24-hour teaching workload. Additional primary responsibilities include academic advising, maintaining scholarly/creative endeavors, student recruitment, and performing department, college, and university service. Candidates will be engaging teacher-artists with expertise in current practice in pedagogical principles, performance practice, and current best practice in the field. In addition, the successful applicant will enjoy working in a campus climate that promotes a Christ-centered environment and collegial atmosphere. A terminal degree in guitar or related field is required for tenure-track; a master’s degree in guitar or related field is required for non-tenure track. Previous teaching at the collegiate level is preferred.
