Position purpose: The Associate Provost, Academic Formation will provide institution-level leadership of undergraduate formation efforts related to curricular and co-curricular programs. The Associate Provost will have a duel focus on academic excellence and student formation. Reporting to the Vice President of Formation Leadership, and secondarily to the Vice Provost for Academic Excellence, the Associate Provost will focus on integrating an institutional focus on formation into day-to-day academic operations. This role will hold major fiscal responsibility and make decisions that impact the operations of a division and the overall direction of the Organization. Essential Functions: 1. Provide leadership of required general education (currently BELL Core) and co-curricular (WELL Core) programs. Will ensure that programs are academically excellent, integrated both with one another and across campus, and are aligned with Belmont’s focus on Whole Person Formation. 2. Collaborate with Provost Office, Student Formation, etc. on implementing and measuring courses and programs that are academically excellent and focused on student formation. Will regularly work with the Vice Provost of Academic Excellence, IRSA, Student Success Flourishing, and Division of Student to create and maintain systems and policies that support formative education for our undergraduate students. Will also ensure that Whole Person Formation educational efforts support accreditation. 3. Function as the second-in-command of the Belmont Formation Collaborative, serving as an advisor to the VP of Formation Leadership. Will help VP with day-to-day leadership of the BFC and will serve as a representative and designee of the BFC when needed. Will assist VP with staff supervision, budget management, goal setting/assessment, internal/external partnerships, etc. 4. Collaborate with Deans, Executive Director of Honors, and faculty on implementing and measuring courses that are academically excellent and focused on student formation. Will create infrastructure to support the creation and revision of courses within academic programs across colleges that focus on Whole Person Formation. Will create mechanisms to consistently assess these courses in line with university goals. 5. Liaise with Office of Strategy and Innovation on goal setting efforts related to Whole Person Formation. Will ensure that formation remains a focus of institutional goal setting and is seamlessly integrated into the goal setting process across Belmont’s units. 6.
