Tax Director

Location: Memphis, TN (On-site/Hybrid - potential flexibility)

Core Responsibilities:

Oversee Tax Preparation Operations

• Own the tax department’s performance and workflow
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of returns
• Improve systems, processes, and staffing structure
• Transition over time into an oversight role rather than a high-volume preparer

Sell and Deliver Tax Strategy Engagements

• Lead tax strategy meetings with business owners and high-income clients
• Present planning opportunities and close paid strategy engagements
• Provide forward-looking tax consulting beyond compliance
• Collaborate with the advisory team to integrate tax into broader client strategies

Build and Scale the Tax Division

• Drive KPIs and overall profitability
• Develop scalable systems and processes
• Hire and manage team members as the department grows
• Evolve from technical contributor to department leader over time

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Strong technical tax background (experience with business owners and complex returns preferred)
• Comfortable in client-facing, consultative sales conversations
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership
• Proven ability to build systems and lead a team
• Interested in long-term growth, not just seasonal tax preparation work

Salary:

• Base: $90,000/year
• Bonus Target: up to 20% of base
