The Opportunity
We are seeking a legal intern to support our General Counsel and Head of Business & Legal Affairs with the following:

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review agreements for independent record labels, such as recording agreements and mechanical licenses.

  • Prepare reports and summaries of agreement terms.

  • Assist in due diligence review.

  • Draft and review NDAs and other commercial transaction agreements.

  • Analyze copyright claims and disputes.

  • Support registration and maintenance of IP portfolio.

  • Conduct research assignments as needed.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Reporting Structure

  • This individual contributor role reports to the Head of Business & Legal Affairs

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in law school and able to commit 14-18 hours per week.

  • A working knowledge of record labels, music distribution, music publishing and music streaming services.

  • Excellent grammar and spelling.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • An advanced understanding of copyright law.

  • Prior transactional law experience.

  • Passion for music.

  • Resourceful with a desire to learn new tasks and manage or participate in special projects.

  • Reliable team player with excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Professional demeanor.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Position Location

  • Continental United States: Remote. Strong preference given to candidates based in California, Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and/or Tennessee

Status/Hours

  • Part-time, non-exempt, temporary, traditional business hours.

Compensation

This is a paid internship position with a salary range of $17.50 - $20.00 an hour. We are willing to work with your school to organize school credit, where applicable and appropriate. Employment is on an at-will basis.
